Seat Back Broken - A Little Quick Help???

Yesterday afternoon I had 30 minutes to kill in a parking lot, so I reclined the driver's seat back fully, and snuck a li'l naptime. Now, the seat back will not "catch" and stay upright, it's flippy floppy, and only sticks in the fully reclined position.

Is there a top secret trick to getting the seat-back back on track? Figures this happens just hours before I planned to do "MINI driver's Ed." for Mrs. Tatt.

try the tip in the second post of this thread. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=89406

i had the same problem with my co-pilot seat. The tech tried the same procedure but was unable to get the seat working so they had to replace seat back/tilt mechanism.

hope it works for ya.

Hey, that was me!
Hopefully that works. Don't know that it applies to flippy floppy - for mine it was an erection in the wrong direction. :(
(and I discovered the issue in the passenger seat in the middle of a cross country trip while trying to nap in a rest area.:impatient)

yeah mine happened after having a 8ft blind cleverly threaded from the boot to the passenger foot well. had to have the seat fully reclined to get through.

Life is Gooood when the back-rest works

Nice going, gentlemen - all is well... The procedure from the TSB was just the thing. Might be of note that in the last step where it says "... fully reclined position" it really means "push it into reclined position as hard as you can and don't worry about the *SNAP that you may hear" lol. The first time through, it didn't fix it because I hadn't used enough enthusiasm to "recline" the back rest.

I luv NAM, thanks guys,
Tatt

Eric I saw where you said it might not apply, but as i read ""If the customer has gotten the backrest operating mechanism out of synchronization, the backrest may not set in position. This can be corrected by utilizing the following procedure:", I knew it was the same symptom. That was exactly what I meant by flippy floppy.

2.5 yrs I have been the only one driving the MCS... I am a bit nervous handing over the controls . Couples are not supposed to coach each other on driving, it's supposedly a recipe for marital disaster. Necessity is a mother...
