Less then 4k miles and already Check Engine Light
Well already a check engine light, steady one not blinking. I already checked the gas cap and reset the computer by unplugging the battery. Any ideas what it can be or do before I take it to the dealer and be something dumb? Thanks again
I heard something about dealers having a software update next month to fix that issue. You can probably get an ODBII reader of some sort that lets you clear codes to get rid of it for now but it will probably come back.
There's a thread devoted to this topic as many people are getting the check engine light, myself included. I have about 2300 miles and it's come on three times, stayed on a few days, and then has gone out. Do a search for that other thread.
It would be helpful if you included details about your MINI in your post. Is it MC, MCa, MCS, MCSa, MCC, etc? There have been a lot of reports of the check engine light in the '07 MC (R56). There is supposed to be a software update coming for the issue. Good luck with it.
Mine is a MCa with 950 miles, light came on twice in this period , always after fast run and the deceleration to a stop light. Resets itself after a few days. I am not concerned, I will get the software upgrade the next time I visit the dealer.
My '07 MCSa's CEL came on at 16 miles!
Not the blinking one, just the steady one but come on.......16 miles?? So I phoned and took her in and the reader code said she was running too rich. When they tested her emissions, it wasn't so. Dealer said this is a known issue they are having, mostly with the MCa's, and there is a software update soon to be released that hopefully will fix the issue. They aren't entirely sure what is causing this problem it seems. Seems we are all a bunch of guinea pigs! ::OINK::
