15 days seems a bit excessive for a car that's not even 12 months old yet. What's going on with it? Mine hasn't seen the dealer since I picked it up.

Maddy has spent a total of 10 days in the shop so far. One day to pick up a new fog lamp and 9 to replace the trans. I know that wont be the last of it, Im planning on taking her back in to have my secret compartment put in whenever the parts become available. Hopefully that is only one day and then that will be it until she goes in for regular maintenance.

was yours ordered earlier in the year? Mine came unlocked, and I never use it due to the fear of scratching/dirtying my piano black trim I hate leaving fingerprints on it, they show really bad.

Romi came with a warped passenger side rear wheel liner which popped out of the wheel arch leaving a gap. Ordered the part, Took the dealer about an hour to replace it.

Everything else has been just peachy.

My MINI was delivered the day before the US rollout. Ive had her since mid-February. I got the brushed alloy interior so I have no fear of fingerprints

3 times, 27 business days

1. CEL "fixing" - February
2. CEL "fixing" - End of March
3. CEL fixing hell - April-May - burnt computer, replaced computer, reprogrammed computer, non-responsive computer.

Lemon law terms approaching, dealer trade assisted it. Second R56 now - doing well. Very well. Knock-knock-knock on wood.

MMM

multiple issues

I had my 07' MCS for 3 weeks with an ongoing leak. Took it in, and it turned out to be the rear main seal needed replacing = 9 days

Had it home for less than 24hrs and had to take it back for noise coming from the tranny/fly wheel. They replaced the flywheel, but didnt solve the prob. They are now replacing the whol tranny = 7 days/still there

So to sum it all up.....the car has been in the shop almost as long as I had it off the boat.

Mine was a week 3 build--delivered within a few days of the release--and I can honestly say it's been incredibly reliable compared to the other new cars I've had. That includes other first-year cars, too. I had the cruise control dropout reprogramming, and that's about it except for tomorrow's secret compartment installation. I have noticed a "snap" sound in the clutch pedal, too, which I'll mention when I bring it in.

I've taken mine back three times already (total of about 20 days in the shop).

I love how the car looks but honestly, it's been nothing but a nightmare for me

March 1 production, mid April delivery, MC Auto.

Monday is day 23. Bleh.

Should MINIUSA pick up a payment considering they've had my car for most of the past 5 weeks?

I would insist on them making the payment, I dont see how they could possibly argue (although Im sure they will). It sounds like your local dealership is a real gem

I'd definitely insist on it--and go through MINI if you have to. In fact, I'd threaten the lemon law and whatever legal recourse you have. Have you been going through the service manager through all of this? Time to start getting loud.

Incidentally, I'd also mention that NAM readers are following this train wreck, too.

Unfortunately the Lemon law is 30 days here. My last contact with the service manager was Thursday when I'd sent him an email, no response as of yet.

What bothers me most is that I'd set this service appt up a week prior to bringing it in, had sent all the information on exactly what was wrong with the MINI including service bulletins AND part numbers. They didn't have these parts in stock so that was the first wait. Then they didn't get the initial repair right so that drug it out further (kudo's to the dealer though for double checking things before returning the car). Then they broke the window and had to wait for the new window to come in (2nd time they've damaged the car while in the shop). The car is now at the tint shop to get the new window tinted. They've indicated that they will drop it off at my work on Monday and pick up my loaner. Since the initial fiasco with the powertrain issue, they've been very good with communicating out the status of the car.

On Tuesday when I'd initially mentioned a lemon last week, they'd indicated that this was not in the realm of lemon yet, but they'd certainly convey my concerns to MINI USA as they were my ambassador to such.

2 days. One day it sat there while they tried to figure out what to do (after discovering that, yes, my car really was supposed to have voice recognition), and other day while the software was updated (that actually only took a couple of hours, but I had to wait until after work to pick it up).

3 days and waiting for parts to come for the forth day... rubber seal parting company with chrome trim below rear windows. Even though it may take less than an hour to fix my car they need it for 24. I have to make an appointment but they just fix it any old time they feel like. It takes them an 20 minutes to bring my car out... which they say will be three miniutes. When I drop off the car off it takes at least 30 minutes for my SA to finish with another Mini owner. Every time I have been in there have been lines of Minis waiting for service. When the part comes in they send a post card to let you know it's in... which for the first trim took 10 days to get to me. I guess this is the price you pay for owning a Bimmer... waiting.

Lack of an update:

SA emailed me to let me know that the MINI was still not ready as the window was not fully repaired and tinted as promised during the weekend. Theoretically I'll get Ruska back sometime today.

Emails to service manager and dealer GM are unanswered as of yet. MINI USA has no response to date as well.

*****

Service Manager just responded and indicated they authorizing a one time goodwill monthly payment.

Yay! At least you got that. Have you had a free loaner through all of this?
