BING BING!! What the F is that noise?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Ugh- someone help!

You know the beeping noise our MINIs make when its 37 or colder? sometimes when i start my car up, it does that every few minutes for about 15 minutes. i can't figure out what it means or why...there are no lights/ warnings...what gives?

diagnose me, doc!

Did you put something heavy enough in the passenger seat that the MINI "thinks" there is someone in the passenger seat that needs to be belted in? That happened to me recently...took a few minutes for me to figure out that a bag of groceries, by briefcase, and purse weighed enough that LiLTiger thought I had a passenger without a seat belt on. Shoved all the junk in the floor...no more DING.

no to both.

at first i thought it was because i started the car, put in a CD, then buckled up...but it has done it with me buckling up before i turn it over.

maybe its my purse- its pretty big and heavy...but then again, i've had it on the floor and its done it. doesn't the seatbelt light illuminate if there is "something" in the seat (like, my 17lb dog who moonlights as a limo driver?!).

its weird, isn't it?

I assume she's aware of the 37 degree warning (as she wrote in her initial post). It is very strange to get the cold weather chimes this time of year.

I would check the under seat connections and make sure they are snapped in properly.

I know if even one is not, audible tones and/or lights will display.

I was gonna say the same thing... I believe it's been in the high 80's so this week.. unless hell froze over while I was away (& the Cubs won the WS)

^^I would lean toward the connectors... although I've never had this occur.

Check your tire pressure, maybe your flat tire monitor is going off and the bulb i burned out or something, or maybe another light is trying to alert you but it is burned out. Its a long shot, but it mght be your problem.

My MINI doesnt alert me if I, let alone my passenger, am not wearing my seat belt. but i drive an 04, so maybe thats a new addition.

yeah, i thought about that too, but they light up when i start my car so i know they're ok.

plus, it just goes off...whenever. sometimes its every day, or every other day, or sometimes a month plus goes by before i hear a lovely chime.

so, i've just accepted the fact that The Chap is haunted. haunted by an Englishman (you have it say it all together like "Inglshmun") in a velvet dinner jacket with long coat tails and tan calf skin gloves.
