WOW - be still my heart

I work on a corporate campus that has over 4,000 employees. I just ran out to my MINI to get something I forgot, and my jaw dropped

Surrounding my LilTiger are THREE..count 'em...THREE brand new MINIs. Obviously they all made an effort to park near me. OK...there is a Toyota object in between 2 of us...but within 5 parking spaces, there are 4 (including mine) MINIs...all shining in the mid-morning sunshine.

The 3 new MINIs are all S's, and they all have Brecht MINI temporary tags on them. Must be a hell of a sale on '07's going on at the moment.

Maaaaaaaaaaan, I wish I had my camera with me. I just can't believe it!

LilTiger is such a trend-setter. In 8 months of MINI ownership bliss, I'd only seen one other MINI in/around our parking lot.

What a great MINI-moment!!! The only thing that cheers the heart more than a group of happy MINIs is a group of happy MINIs convened spontaneously. They didn't park there as part of an event...they did it out of sheer enthusiasm. Very cool. I'm still trying to recover from the earthquake caused by the arrival of my R56 Cooper...it I was there I'd be parking right there with y'all and loving every minute!!!

That's great! I always try to park near a Mini if I see one, but in my area of Atlanta, there aren't many who appreciate the comradery. Thank goodness for our local car group or I'd feel like I was the only one that was gung ho about owning my cute little car...

Great little story, great little thing to make ya happy on a FRIDAY (YEA!)

I always park pretty far away from things in parking lots, and I've returned to find MINIs parked next to me a few times just in the last month

That same thing happened here at my work too, there was this lady that used to work here and she would always try to park her LY MC next to my MCS!
it was always awesome to see them together!

When I got back into my office, I dug into my purse and found 3 WCM membership postcards. I already ran back outside and tagged them all

You know me too well

Yeah... there aren't many near me.

If there are more than three in one place at one time, it's a club event!

You have just discovered ... "clustering"

MINIs tend to cluster in large lots. It might be some kind of migratory thing. It happens a LOT

What a neat thing to find! We have assigned parking at work, so it's the same Nissan and Camry every day.

I'm serious. Its a known phenomana (sp)

My wife encountered it early on. She would go to the Mall, park far away, and coming back to the car find one or two other MINIs parked next to her. It happened a lot.

One theory is that the other MINIs are lonely and want to talk to each other. After all, cars do get lonely

A second theory is that the owners figure if they park close to another MINI, the owner will respect the cars and no door dings.

This is nothing new. Go to any very large lot and sometimes you see "nice" cars clustered together even if parked far away. The owners might think they other owners will respect each others cars!

What a cool day to go out and find a cluster of MINIs hovering near yours. I now try to carry a small keychain digital camera with me at all times. Unfortunately, I've never had the luck of other MINI's parking near me.

MINIs need each other. They understand each other.

They appreciate each other. They are related. They are like really smart and compassionate people. They get it and the rest of the world doesn't. MINI's exude motoring love. (I believe all this, but I think I am going to throw up anyway).

Huh....women do that all the time......'specially for potty breaks. Is it "clustering" or "hearding"? I asked Mrs. Moreorless and I got smacked.

I love it. Cool story, however it might not be simple clustering. It could be little worker bee's gathering around the queen.

I had the chance to park next to another MINI at work when I came back from lunch, and I thought of this thread (I'm usually the only MINI in the parking lot.)

(Warning: crappy phone pic incoming)

Like clothes hangars, if we could just get them to...ahem...replicate, we'd be on to something!

I always try to find a MINI to park next to.

I figure they might be less prone to wack me with their door considering they know how easily that can be done.

I think MINIs reproduce asexually, like amoebas. I went to Murphy's Lumber in Carmel Valley Village the other day. When I parked, the lot was empty. When I came out there was another MINI next to mine.

Wow, I have never thought about it before, but they must put something in the water where I work. My company has less than 100 employees, but there are 3 minis between the two parking lots. I never get to park with the others, though. They are across the street.

I took a trip to the little grocery store near my work a couple of months ago during lunch...Imagine my surprise when I got to park next to my MINIs exact twin! Liquid Yellow MC with black roof and mirrors - no stripes. Mine was cuter of course.

I took a bunch of pics with my camera phone and had to show co-workers when I got back. They thought I was nuts, but it made my day!
