Does your dealership give you MINI loaners?
So my car has developed the whine while downshifting from 3rd to 2nd and also got a flat this weekend (only 600 miles on it and haven't even made the first payment
). I am scheduled for service tomorrow morning at MINI of Peabody but was surprised to be told that if the car needs to stay for work I will have a rental car from enterprise set up for me. They said it'll be nothing great and will make me all the more excited to get back to my MINI (as if I would be happy to hear this). It seems to me that a lot (if not most) on the boards get to borrow MINIs off the lot when their cars are being serviced.
Is it standard to be issued some rental taurus by a MINI dealership? I'm not real impressed. My dad with his 5 year old Infiniti still recieves brand new G35s when he takes his car in for service and he didn't even buy it from the dealership. I would much rather get an R53 or even an R56 MC off the lot than some bland rental car. Does anyone in the area know if HC MINI will loan out MINIs when cars are held for service?

dealer policy
loaners are a dealer issue to the best of my knowledge
my dealer gives them, but only if you bought the car from him. if he runs out of MINIs you get a rental.....first time my S was in, I got a Lincoln TownCar ... now that was exciting!

Mine gives loaners, but not always MINIs... sometimes though. Depends if they had any to give. You can't expect them to have 10 or 20 MINIs available for loaners.
Be glad you get a free loaner. Most dealerships give you either a one way ride in their service drop off van or a waiting room for you to watch tv in while you sit.

Aye, Brecht MINI gives loaners. You're not guaranteed to get a MINI, but if they are out of MINIs you'll get a BMW of some sort - with the dealer name plastered all over it of course. But you won't catch me complaining. They're really good about having plenty of loaners available.
the one time I had mine in, it was only supposed to take a few hours but ended up staying overnight so my MA actually let me take his MINI home and he drove something else! I am going in again for service tomorrow so we will see how my experience goes this time!

After 4 years I finally got my first loaner from the dealer. An 06 MC with 600 miles.
It could have had something to do with the fact that parts needed to be ordered for my window which was stuck in the down position. I've had parts ordered before but I guess they felt that it wasn't a good idea to have me running around with a window stuck open just in case it were to rain.
The dealer is MINI of Nashville.

MINI of Sterling allegedly has loaners (I don't know if they are BMW or MINI or both), but I have only gotten Enterprise cars from them. However, they did take me on very short notice. I am considering haveing a magnetic sign made saying, "this piece of crap loaner was provided to me by MoS" to bring with me when I go for service.
When I've gotten a loaner, I've never cared if it was a Mini or not. Just happy to have something to get to work for a few days.
I think most dealers have arrangements with local car rental companies.

Mini of Nashville has given us loaners, they even gave us one for the day when our car was in for service, that was nice, we didn't have to wait around the dealership, they just called us when it was ready
East BAy MINI told me that was one of the perks when I bought
my car was that I'd be given MINI loaners when my car was in the
shop. What did I get when my car went in to the shop? Not a MINI!
Yeah..they lied.
I got stuck with some expensive BMW

My dealer gives loaners as well.
I will refrain from announcing the dealership due to "one time" VIP treatment I received from dealership couple of mos. ago.
They ran out of 3 series BMWs to rent out, I was in a hurry, I didn't want to wait for shuttle or Enterprise Rent A Car. I saw the GM, know the guy pretty well since I bought all my cars from his dealership. Anyway, the GM gave me a demo car for a day, which was his corp. car as well. It was the new 6 series...
It was ok, nothing spectacular, call me crazy, but I still have more fun dirving my Mini!!

I've only had one service appointment and was able to get a loaner car. The service manager said, "I have two choices, you'll probably take #2." The first choice was an '05 Taurus--I must've given him quite a look, because then he said, "Okay, I'll get you the MINI!" We had an '07 MINI to drive around for the day! Kinda cool, it was nice to be able to check out the new model (AND not get stuck in a TAURUS!)
Oh, this was Jackie Cooper MINI in Edmond, Oklahoma, and I had scheduled the appointment about a week in advance. I had been told that if you schedule in advance your chances of a loaner are pretty good.

Century MINI in Greenville, SC sadly does not give out loaners of any kind, nor any discounts for rentals, etc etc. Basically you're on your own if you have to leave it overnight. :( Considering we live an hour away from Greenville, that isn't fun at all.
Baron BMW/MINI does give loaners, a MINI if they have it, a BMW if they don't. Pretty impressive.
I was a dealer sales mgr for many years and I always thought giving a service loaner was a good idea, but it's an expensive program, the cost has to be born somewhere, so like everything else in life, nothing is really "free".
Remember guys and dolls, Honda, Toyota, none of the domestics give loaners. Those of us that get them should be very glad, even if it's just a wrent-a-wreck.....
And no matter what we get, I know I'm always happy to be back in my own MINI...........
