New speakers?

How has your experience been if you've replaced your speakers? Fronts/rears/standard or hifi upgrade radio. MY MCS is due mid-late July and am very interested what your results have been.

Thanks for any feedback you feel like sharing.

I replaced all spkrs so far except front pillars, that will be soon. The biggest improvement came swapping out the 6 x 9's/rear tweeters IMO.The 6 x 9's were cheap. The front speakers were alot better quality although cheap compared to the 6 x 9.

I agree with Paul. I have the upgraded HIFI and the speakers don't cut it. I'm planning to wait a while and see what mods work out for others. If anyone has any experience changing the speakers in the A pillars, I'd like to hear about it.

What did you replace the 6x9's with? Is it just a pop-in replacement with another (better quality) 6x9?

Was that supposed to read "...no drilling required" or "you have to do the drilling required."?

I recommend Crutchfield: www.crutchfield.com or (888) 955-6000.
They have really good interface that shows you all the speakers that will fit into your specific vehicle (Yr/Model/Options, etc). They also have specifically made installation kits, wiring harnesses, etc. Overall, they are a very informative and professional bunch of car audio nuts.

Good Luck!

Sorry, didn't catch that Mgibrace has an '07

They add new vehicles periodically, so it may be worthwhile checking in with them every couple of weeks, if you can wait . . .

I'm sorry, yes no drilling or cutting needed on the rears. I put 6 x 9 kappas in the back with Kappa 10.7t for the rear tweets on the back armrest. 6 1/2 & 4" infinity reference's in the front. I had to use a dremel and had to do a little manipulating to get the 4" in. Sounds EXCELLENT. See my gallery. Still need to do the front tweets. AM/FM stereo bass thumps, cd's and Ipod sound good, but dont have near the thump. Hope that helps.

it appears the way the HU is set up it pumps more bass for Radio, and the CD, and lastly any auxillary. so i set my EQ on my ipod to send some more bass to keep it balanced.

Familiar,
Doesn't the "thump" under the seat help?

Everyone, thanks.

Dye, which references did you use for the fronts? I'm confused. You seemed to indicate you liked the references over the kappas. I've been out of car stereo for a while, but aren't the kappas more expensive than the references?

And yes, I'm an idiot. Is your car an 07?

I'm interested in upgrading my '07 as well. Since Crutchfield doesn't have the spec what are the speaker sizes and space requirements? Especially depth.

I like them both the same, although I would of liked the kappas all around. The reason I went with the ref for the fronts is because there is no room for the crossovers in the front. I thought about this afterwards, you could put the crossovers inside the door panel of the 6" openeing by using velcro. but I used the ref in the fronts, had there been room for the kappa crossx's in the front, I would have went with the kappas. I used the ref 6 1/2 Infinity Reference 6022i and for the 4" I used the Infinity Reference 4022i. The 4" I had to use a dremel to get them in. Hope this helps, yes 07'.

Depth on the 6 x 9's is pretty deep, if buying from crutchfield, you can always return them if they dont fit.

Dye, Thanks. Did you get the factory covers back on? I'm partial to the stealth look.
