LARINI Installed! - PICTURES!

The boys at Miniworks had my Larini exhaust delivered on Friday, I was up to see Danny at Mini Corsa in Van Nuys yesterday and got it installed!

He said the installation was a breeze and it really neatly uses the top half of the stock hangars. I'm still getting used to the new noise - it is louder than I thought, but it really is a great, rich loud.

I was on the 55 last night and blipped down from 6th to 5th. The 4 guys in the car in front all turned and looked as I went past, one of them nodding and grinning! it was pretty cool I still just love the respect this little car gets amonst the crazy exotica in OC.

Major props to Danny and thanks to MiniWorks.

I'll post up pics soon.

I just got a cat-back installed and I'm still getting used to the noise. It just goes to show that the stock exhaust is dead quiet. I definitely noticed a power increase, and I don't even have a pulley.

Sound clips?!!

I AM getting used to mine, problem is, I thought I would not really have to get used to it! My buddy with a Milltek had his put on and just loved it instantly. I'm wondering why I dont love it instantly....Off to drive again today

I totally feel you there. Milltek is known for being one of the more quiet exhausts in the aftermarket. I've also seen some threads comparing exhausts that often say that Milltek is one of the 'more' (if you could put it that way) restrictive ones. Time will tell I guess...

Actually GTT tested the Milltek to have lower backpressure than JCW.
Stock = 2.5 psi
Scorpion = 3.5
JCW= 3.75
Milltek = 1.25
One-ball (OEM) = 1.75

Danny at Mini Corsa kicked some butt. He is a smart kid. Not the prettiest shop in the world ( he knows it and all of his customers just now are just fine with that!) BUT, he KNOWS his stuff and pretty much undercuts everyone else. I think his hourly is 75. It took just under an hour.

Don't get me wrong- the Milltek exhaust has a lot lower pressure than JCW by a long shot. In this thread
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=90443
Someone said that the JCW piping goes from 2.25'' to 2.0'' to 1.75''!!! That's pretty restrictive if you ask me!

Looks like the Larini is 2.5'' if I'm not mistaken. A 2.5'' exhaust is definitely louder than stock. I didn't fall head-over-heels for my exhaust either at first, but I'm glad I got something with a lot less restriction.

Can you get the heat shield back on the battery box? After driving, I went back to show someone the tow hook (packed away by the battery), and I couldn't believe how hot the metal was back there. Made me stop an think about exhausts that require the removal of a heat shield. Maybe it really isn't that important, but since I just experienced it, it was on my mind.

It is not actually shown in that picture, but we just dremmeled out the dip for the exhaust a little deeper (1 inch??) to allow the pipes through. Absolutely no issues and the heat shield is back on.

I think Danny's opinion was it was not necessary, a LOT of people leave it off. I just wanted to be sure.

Cheers,
N

Parking Garage

At least now I know when Neil enters a parking garage that I am in.

If any of you are familiar with the Irvine Spectrum, I parked in one of the parking structures, which are rather large, and as I was walking out of it I could hear him entering the other side of the structure.
