Black Box under the passenger seat

I have a an 07 Mini Cooper S with a basic stock stereo and under the passenger seat there is a black box with 4 screws. Can someone tell what is in the black box. I planning on upgrading my stereo system with two amps, speakers and a sub. I was hoping to put an amp under the front seat.
Thanks

do you have the factory NAV? In the '02-'06 that is where the NAV DVD goes. If not... it might just be a bomb!

Really, though, I'm not certain with '07s.

I know!

It's where your Significant Other stores the, uhhhh, "toys" for the bedroom olympics. It's the ONE hiding place your children won't find.

Please don't ask me how I know that.

OK...it wasn't my son that found that bag of toys. It was our puppy. And as if on cue, during a dinner party with friends, he went into our walk-in closet, chewed into the (canvas) bag, and decided that one of our "toys" was a chew toy. He brought it into the dining room, dropped it at the feet of one our guests, and ran off.

As I'm trying to process what had just happened...and pick up the piece(s), he runs back in....with a bottle of flavored lotion - which he promptly bit into with his baby canines. Lotion squirts all over - table leg, guest's leg, carpet, and puppy.

I was so Fortunately, the puppy survived to live a long and wonderful life For some reason though, he always had an aversion to things that vibrated ("buzzed") or smelled like coconut.

I looked at mine and it looks like a part of the air conditioning for the rear seat heater ducts. Don't hold me to it though.

I wasn't aware the rear seats had any type of climate control associated with them....

I love these threads where someone asks about an obscure feature of their car and ends up with pages full of humorous answers.

It's R56's HAL

Me: MINI CCC, you have an enormous responsibility on this mission, in many ways perhaps the greatest responsibility of any single mission element. You're the brain, and central nervous system of the car, and your responsibilities include watching over the men in transportation. Does this ever cause you any lack of confidence?
MY CCC: Let me put it this way, Mr. MMM. The R56 series is the most reliable computer ever made. No R56 computer has ever made a mistake or distorted information. We are all, by any practical definition of the words, foolproof and incapable of error.

Bittersweet.

Dear MMM,

Before you believe this line that your CCC is giving you, you might want to take a look at the thread "Anyone have the iPod interface installed w/Sat Nav?" .

Sarcasm

Colea,

My car is doomed by the same issue (went thru 2 CCCs already). Getting a new car. I'll call it HAL 9000 (hence the quote).

I'll change my nick to BBB (Blame the Black Box!)

MMM

BBB,

Oh, is *that* how sarcasm works! Good to know.

Seriously, I wonder how much of this can really be blamed on the CCC. They can send as many CCC's as they want and if they all come with the wrong version of software, then you truly are doomed.

Good luck with HAL 9000.
