looking at a 03 MCS FS locally buyback vehicle Thoughts, Ideas, Suggestions

Hello all,
I'm looking at a buying a Blue 03 MCS for sale locally. The car is a buyback vehicle that mini is selling at another dealer. I don't know whats up with the car, meaning why was it bought back by mini??? The car is very well equipped, nav, sports package, aero kit, cold weather package. I'm wondering if I could in anyway find out what is or was the reason why the car was bought back. It seems that the car is to good to be true. It's a great price and if I can make sure that it's previous issues were fixed then I may purchase it. IS there anything that I can look out for in that model year that any of you out there may have had with that year??? Or is there any way to tell if it was wrecked and fixed up in a sloppy way??? ANy thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appereciated.
P.S. Has any of you had mini buyback their vehicle due to any reason whatsoever??? And what would you guys do, get it or not, this is of course if I find out the source of the problem.
Thank you all for being such good listeners and for any of your knowledge.

I'd start by running a Carfax, if that's clean the next thing I'd do is to run the VIV by the dealer so they can check its service/repair history.

Hope this helps.

Actually, some dealers are looking for used car inventory.

Because of the wait time on 07 vehicles, some dealers have a limited on-site stock of cars to sell. They may have bought the car simply to have inventory to sell.

The dealership has about 50 mini coopers with mcs's as well. there and about 12 used cars, so I don't know if they are just moving inventory.

In certain areas, one of MINI's lease plans includes the buyback option for those who want to lease a new model rather than buy the car they have. The car you mentioned might be a previously leased vehicle returned to the dealer.

The dealership told me that the car was bought back because it was in the shop for over 2 weeks and they didn't want the car, or something like that???

To get a dealer to "buy back" a car for mechanical reasons is generally pretty tough-even in states with strong Lemon Laws. Basically the woner has to prove the vehicle has so many and/or reaccuring problems that it is a "Lemon". This doesn't mean it has not been repaired and is just fine now BUT, I would want a good warrenty to back up the claim that all is OK now. The dealer should be up front about the details- if they are not be very careful.

IMO it doesn't make sense that an '03 would be a 'buy back'. It's not even under warranty anymore. You should be able to get a service record from MINI - that should help in understanding if it has a history of problems.

the car stated above only has 18,000 miles on it and it is now out of warranty, iI could get a warranty from one that they offer, but it's not a mini warranty. I would love it if they would certify it.
