Gas Question

Ok, so I'm new to the whole Mini experience and I have only had mine for about 5 days. My question is does everyone use premium gas or do they use something less?

I'll cheat once in a while (and use 89 octane), but for the most part, Premium (91+) goes into my tank.

gas question

Congrats on the car first of all! Welcome to the MINI community!

I only run 93 (or 91 or higher) because that's what MINI calls for in the S. I would strongly recommend running what MINI asks for. The owner's manual should have some info in there about this subject too.

Happy Motoring!

Ditto! 91+ till gas hits $10/gal which probably isn't too far off so I'll shaddup now.

I use 91.
Besides the added detergents (in the premium brands at least), it releases all the ponies you bought... there have been pages written about how this is done here and on BMW boards...

I don't mind paying the extra, I'm just coming from trading in an 05 Nissan Frontier Gas Gussler so this is nothing. Just wondering because sometimes it makes no difference. I don't mind though on such a small tank getting the good stuff.

Use the GOOD stuff..... Much easier to put the good gas in rather than put the cheap sh*t in, and end up at the dealer for engine problems!!!!
