Ever have this happen ?

Took my 3 year old son to Wild Animal Park San Diego ,my R56S is 2 months old so I'm pretty **** about it .I park in the end slot as far over to the curb as I can so I dont get door dings .We have a fun day and come out to the lot ...Theres a 30 year old handycap van parked 2 feet over the line into my spot 'and 1 foot from my car , theres not another car even parked in this area . They must have had a hard time getting out of such a tight space because my door handle is nicked and my paint has about softball size swirly hologram deal on it .This van was so thrashed the doors didnt close all the way let alone lock, I was going to write a note just asking why but when I looked in there window I saw a few spanish language books so I just left .My car is laser blue, normal wax wouldnt get the swirly out,Any ideas?

As a detailing junkie, I would recommend either Prima Swirl or Meguirs Scratch-X. If you have a PC, Swirl would be best. If not, you can use swirl by hand, but Scratch-X will do just about the same thing and is locally availible.

Hate to hear about your experience. It would freak me out totally. I can relate... I've parked way, way, way back from the rest of the folks, only to have that one car crowd me in. Ten empty spaces on either side of my Mini...and yet, they have to park right beside me.

Their thinking? Dunno ... maybe irritated at the snobs who are too good to park like the rest of us? I would bet some ppl think that way.

In this day and age? Nothing would surprise me.

My father-in-law had a similar experience. He parked his brand new Corvair at the end of the parking lot to protect the car. Someone released a shopping cart that rolled all the way across the lot that hit & dented his auto on day 2 of ownership. His daughter tells me he was very angry about that. I would have been, too

I haven't had that happen yet, knock on wood. But, I have had people feel the need to park next to me even when the lot is EMPTY. Like last weekend, some fat dude with a lack of manhood in his Yukon on 20's felt the need to park next to my car in an empty parking lot.

Once with my old car, I parked in a spot that wasn't that far away, but it was an end with a hedge on the passenger side and empty spaces all around otherwise. The parking lot was pretty empty, with only about 15 or so cars parked in the spaces closest to the store. I came out and a beat-up older Acura was parked next to me so close to my driver's door that I literally could not get in the car (I'm pretty petite and can usually squeeze in when this happens). I had to get in on the passenger side and crawl across the car! I was fuming! I can't even imagine how mad I would have been if it was my MINI. There were a zillion other spaces to choose from and my car was not new and calling out for a jerk to come snuggle up to it. I think some people are just inconsiderate and are only thinking about their own convenience.

Ah that sucks man, I always hate it when people do that.

My worst experience though was, I went to a softball game at my school one day, I find a good spot and decide to park there. It's across from the field, but a little bit behind it. I pull in, put the e-brake on and roll up my windows. As soon as I grab my key to turn it off, BAM!

****ing foul ball nails my driver's side door, about a 1/2 inch above the bottom plastic trim. It's only like a nickel sized dent, not too noticeable but still, didn't even get out. Bastards.

Brand new car. Business trip - parked in Chicago airport. Hail storm 8). Brand new car now looks like the golf ball car.

Making lemonade out of the experience - we used the insurance settlement as part of the downpayment on our first house!

It's my understanding that for the average driver, it is easier to park next to another car for the "parking lines" alignment. They tend to try to line up their side mirrors regarless of vehicle lenth. Had they any sense of their own car's size, they would all park with the back of thier car at the rear of the spot.

Had a rock leave a nickel-sized ding in my windshield with less than 1200 miles... on my Porsche. The wife and I were taking it to Vegas and right when the speedlimit changed to 75, a rock came up. Hate it. Glad that the scratchX worked for you. Here is a good site, by the way:
