My,my,my....hmmmmmmmmmm The one to watch bidding agaist is Susan- I put lots of things on my ebay Watch List but don't bid when I see it's her- She's a wild collector!!! But I will say the bidding war with Ian and Donna was the most excitment that I've seen for MINI stuff for a while!!!!
I was feeling like I was a little behind in my collecting but I do have the MINI 8 ball and....the beer can inspiration for the exhaust! And I was able to get mine from the New York Car Show when they brought out the convert-so I didn't pay for mine either
Now I know that Ian has a puzzel from the dealer that I haven't seen anywhere else so if anyone has an idea of how to get a hold of one of those , please let me know-
And if any new collectors want a start up package, I have a ton of ads but you "dedicated" collectors have all of them- so let me know:smile:
And does anyone know anything about the new ad agency and when will they start their ad campaign??!! 'Cause , hey! We're getting anxious !!!

Hum........wonder if Ian would post a picture of what that nifty puzzle looks like???? I guess I'm a bit behind myself as I've not heard or seen that little goodie...
And I guess I need to figure out Susan's Ebay screen name so I know what to look out for on the bidding war side of things - LOL!!!
On the hunt for the beer can thingy - I've only seen one up for sale in the past couple of years........
Anne - I still look for your OLD ads to pop up on Ebay - I still need quite a few...
I haven't heard a peep about the new ad agency.......
Donna

Autoweek tickets
So publishers split each printing into subscriber and non-subscriber batches. And when you order back issues, you hit pay dirt?
AutoWeek tickets pictured. An anti-SUV organization had the same idea, I used one on a co-worker's Surburbian.
Anyone else see the Playboy centerfold ad from '02 (I think)? Wish I took it then (before I owned a MINI). I'd like to post that one... Would need to have a regular centerfold for comparison!

Welcome Kurt! Check out the Library of Motoring link on earlier threads to this post. Not only will you see the Playboy centerfold ad but you'll be able to see a well documented display of almost all the ads that MINIUSA has had since 2001. It's quite a list!! You will be amazed!!!!
And to all you "hunters"... I have found a new ad that goes with the one Cathy found in Stuff. It is in the Nov 2005 newstand issue of Men's Fitness on pages 14 and 15 with a guy losing his pants holding on to the new MINI grab bar! I still haven't been able to figure out how to post photos on here yet, even with help from Ian, so I sent the attachments to James to post on the Libray of Motoring site and maybe he'll be able to ad it here also. I feel that because now there are at least 2 of this style of ads, that there must be at least 1 other. So be on the lookout "hunters"! Let no magazine go unopened!!! Check it out and let's find this one as if there is a series, I'm sure we will all want a piece of the action!!! So go out and "hunt"!!!!!!!!!!

Those are the two new ads Anne was talking about.
I have updated the list with everything I know about.
libraryofmotoring.info/miniprintads.html
I wish I had more time to work on that website, but most of my time is taken up with sunshineminis.org.
Kurt, do you have the issue date and page numbers for the MOTORING CITATION ads from AutoWeek?
There are two new MINI magazines in Germany. I just got format:MINI and I'm waiting on MINI SCENE. I'll add them along with MC².

Anne's suspicion that there are more of the Grab Handle series is comfirmed. There is a third version showing a guy with a dog hanging on to his pants leg by the mouth. It has a blue border.
The 2006 MINI Grab Handle.
Double Bolted for a reason.
Spin. December 2005. (pages 12 & 13)
I'll scan it this weekend and add it to the list.

The attached picture is of my collection. The bottom half came with my used MCS (how many of you got that with your new MINI? ) I just combed through my AutoWeek collection (which my wife would love to throw out), found most of what is listed. I can't believe the orange staples! Are the 3 issues of the jumping-the-fold worth saving?
DONNA/MIKE, annes, and jamesday24 thanks for the welcome!

Grow baby, grow
[QUOTE=Donna/Mike]Kurt - you've got a pretty good collection just from Auto Week!!
It just happened. I usually throw out ALL inserts because I don't like the Madison Ave. slick artsy fartsy scratch-n-sniff sort of advertising. But I recognized the brilliance of this campaign. I'm naturally oblique, so I appreciate the humor exuding from MINI ads.
And NO........don't throw anything away...LOL!!! No; you should see my back yard!
Stick with us in here and your collection will GROW and GROW..."
Dumb What's the mojo in buying a back issue of Playboy off a porno book website? Just for the MINI centerfold (yeh, right).

Now you (all) have me rifling through the magazine racks, bending them "looking" for the insert format. Now I gotta learn the difference between news-stand, subscription, this web stuff... cool.

Thanks for the tip!

IDEA: What about starting a new thread for posting drawings made with this template? Call it LET'S DRAW. (Attached marginal picture of my first drawing, will find someone with a scanner, and post later) I know it would be laborious for those of you who are awesome with the computer, with the cute little pictures and hard to read graphics that make your posts jump out as I fast-scroll (easily identified by lack of grammer and spelling skills ), you probably don't know how to use this ancient technology with long things called mechanical pencils (with 0.3mm lead, not crayon sized 0.7mm). Should we be allowed to use other ancient tools like straight edges, circle and oval templates? I want to try wild versions like limos, lowriders (just kidding), demolition derby, pickup, fast back, notch back, hearse, UPS, you get the idea. Airbrush coloring should be allowed. Think it's worth it?
BTW: This MINI template is about 1/3 the thickness of the professional grade; I had to resist the usual throw-the-damn-thing-around, it catches on paper edges too easily. It bends at the curves while drawing, takes an extremely light touch. I made specific notes on my test drawing. This concludes my this-guy's-got-too-much-time, and he's-taking-this-way-too-seriously post.

Kurt - you do good work Good idea you have - start a thread and put your drawings in it...
Okay all you hunters. I need your help....PLEASE!!! I have been to EVERY store I had time to go to over the past 3 days - looking for the Nov. issue of Men's Fitness - CANNOT FIND IT ANYWHERE! So, if ANY of you can find it - I would GLADLY pay you for the copy and the postage to send it to me...looks like they have already pulled it from the racks here in So Cal - all I could find was the Dec. issue.....
Thanks,
Donna

I traded a pumpkin pie with my mom for the National Geographic Feb. '05 issue! The cover is a flying owl.
I used it in the BMW/MINI: embodiment of corporate evil? thread. Knowledge is power (or so I've been told).
