My wife purchased a D80 so I thought I would mess around with it. The included software, Picture project, for some reason give the pictures a green tint. Even when opening the factory included pictures.
What I'm looking for is a forum of some sort that does more than just review cameras. Something like a technical help forum. I did some searching on this forum in hopes and did decide to download the Nikon Capture trial. Same problem with it. The only way to view the pictures correctly on the computer is to set the camera to jpg and open them with Paint Shop Pro. Sort of a waste of a good camera. :impatient

I've had a D70 for about three years now and dpreview was where I spent most of my time (until I discovered NAM of course).
Cameras, lenses, software, computers (for the software), etc...best site on the web for digital camera buffs.

The absolute best place for all things Nikon is www.nikonians.org. Any help you need will be in the forums there. Also, get rid of Picture Project. It is close to worthless. Download Nikon View from the Nikon web site (free) and use that as your uploader - RAW converter - browser. If you have a color problem using Nikon Capture then you have a color setting wrong, or a monitor that is not calibrated.

Flickr is great, but you're limited in how many sets you can make unless you want to pay monies.

I don't use Picture Project. I use either Nikon Capture NX or Photoshop CS2's Adobe Camera Raw plugin. So I'm not clear on how PP works. It could be that it doesn't pick up the camera's setting and you have to set it yourself.
Even if your WB setting is reasonable, it may not perfectly match the light under which you shot the photo. You may have to adjust it manually, or with a grey point eyedropper.
Agreed on this sounding like a white balance issue. Double check your white balance setting.
For broad daylight, I usually shoot jpeg with auto white balance.
For any lighting with flashes or night time, I usually shoot RAW so I have fine control over white balance. I do RAW processing with Nikon Capture mostly, and also use photoshop for other adjustments.

Shooting JPEG, rather than RAW, gives you little ability to adjust your image later. It is fine if you are shooting high volume, and pretty much know what you are doing. The main benefits of JPEG are smaller file sizes, and lower post processing requirements.
With RAW, you have a lot more latitude for exposure adjustment in post processing. When shooting MINIs, you have a subject that can have a great range of brightness -- chrome in the sun and black tires in the wheel well. With RAW you have more options for recovering shadow detail and blown highlights.
