Anyone into macros?
Excellent photo
Motor-on, have you got a Macro lens or just using the macro setting on a digital camera?
I used to take a lot of macro photos with a SLR but you really need a Macro lens, tripod, patience
, and really good depth of field. Minichick and Climber got some excellent depth of field but when you get REALLY close, and inch or so away, its all about depth of field ... and I don't if you got a point and shoot digital, I dont think the lens can be stopped down to F16 or F22? I have just a cheapo Nikon cause I'm too cheap right now to buy the full digital SLR setup and the huge cost of buying all kinds of lenses. Easily $5K and up!
Excellent pics ppl and GREAT ideas. I like the Marcos!

I'm limited to shooting wide open as I have dirty CCD and until I can find someone who can clean it without making things worse unless I'm wide open and about 1 stop under exposed I get black spots all over the image.:impatient
Here are some past MINI macros and after seeing Juans macros I'm thinking of some engine shots, and for the past few weeks there has been a shot I've been working in my head that will likely be this months photo contest entry.

I hated them because every time you add something in front of the primary lens, it only degrades the images (like unless you get the really expensive teleconverters, its always better to buy the longer telephoto if you can afford it).If you really going to get into this, you need a Ring Light. Just google it for whatever make lens you got. They aren't cheap but then you can stop all the way down and get the depth of field
That's neat. I love NAM can allow people to expand in ways we'd never had considered previously.
Trying to refrain from the Young Frakenstien jokesI can't imagine not having my DSLR for a few days (course I haven't shot a single image on my film SLR in a little over a year)
I love the third photo in the set.
I'll have to get Minvader to post some of his macros here.
And a few more flowers.

Poor Scaning from a slide

The last two show the differance between a 70mm macro shot and a 300mm +1+2+4 diopters shot.
I really like this one...
Way to go Drew... hit me with one of my weaknesses!
Really quick, here's a few of my macros... I'm in the middle of processing 3gb of photos from yesterday's Mini track day!
The camera was a Sony F717 (I recently got the new Sony a100 DSLR.) The extra lens mounted (backwards) to the end of the Sony is a Konica 50mm f1.4 (from the early 70's). I used a macro coupler I ordered from B&H for $8, and I already had the lens sitting around. So for next to nothing I got a HUGE increase in the macro capability of my camera. Depth-of-field seems like it might be even more of an issue than it was with just the camera alone, but more research and possibly a different 35mm lens might help that in the future. These are my very first attempts at using this setup, so hopefully I'll get better with it. At the very least it looks like a great way to get super close to objects that are nearly flat... too bad that's not what I'd normally find myself shooting though. None of these are cropped... just resized for use on the web.
