Which Video Camera for VacuCam

I won the VacuCam Mini at the AMVIV farewell breakfast. I'm just wondering what camera any of you who have a VacuCam are using? I would like to find one that will work with it and also work as our general use video camera.

The SONY DCR-HC32 sells for under $500 and includes LANC for remote triggering of the camcorder while driving.

I think you really need to go with VacuCam MINI Thanks for the list, I think I am going to try the Sony DCR-HC42 which also includes LANC. I can get it locally and at a good price.

I went out and bought the DCR-HC42. I hooked everything up last night and it worked great. I did not have a chance to take it on much of a drive but got about 3 minutes going to a friends house. The Micro fit right under the rearview mirror where you can not even see it. I am thinking of where else I want to try mounting it now.

Anyway thanks for all your help, it is a fantastic product and I expect to have a lot of fun with it.

That's awesome! Does it have a LANC port too? The (VMini) heh heh instead of micro----can mount on just about any flat surface. You could mount it on the sunroof point down at the shifter, on the inside windshield pointing towards you giving a view of the cockpit as you drive, or an inside side window to capture the passenger, or back window (might need an extension) unless you use 12volt port in boot--back window facing traffic behind you.

While I don't recommend trying it outside, you could try on the door (assuming you don't have PepperWhite) while moving at relatively slow speed. I still need more testing done to determine actual sticking strength for exterior applications. Just make sure to wrap the tether through the handles in a gentle knot before passing it back to the cockpit in case it does break loose, it won't hit the ground and get lost or explode!

I'm very pleased that you are happy with my product.

Yes it does have the LANC port. I will order the remote on/off from viosport.com in the near future. According to their chart it is compatible with their v1.6 unit.

Today was the first time I have had much time since getting back from Vegas so I cleaned the MINI and played with the camera and mount for a while. I do like the view of the cockpit when stuck to the sunroof. I mounted it to the rear part of the sunroof but about all it got was the speedometer and back of the seats. I could get close to a drivers view by mounting just to the bottom left of the rearview mirror. While I have a Hyper Blue, I do not plan to mount the VMini to the outside.

I will have to go hit the road so I can give it a good try before the MOTD.

Very nice! Thanks for the update. Now I just wish everyone would go out and buy this camcorder right now instead of waiting a couple months, and find that it's not available, and wants to know what current camcorder works.

As always, feel free to call me on my cell or email/PM me for any questions or problems you may have.
