I posted these to another thread too, kind of terrible as I am still learning my digital slr and not patient enough to hook up a tripod and do a real shoot yet.

here's a couple new night shots from me
took this off a bridge during SEMA in Vegas, I didn't have my tripod

I wasn't too happy with these so I haven't really posted them, they look fuzzy and I had waaaaaay too much camera shake because once again...no tripod...silly me

I love the bridge one, makes me want to run down to McCormick place and get some shots, autoshow is too far away....

The bottom two The MINI doesn't seem to stand out, almost blends too well for the background in my opinion.

I really love the bridge shot:droool:

Thanks MO...I didn't really edit the GP shots because I just wasn't happy. I finally got to go out and shoot stuff but like an idiot I left my tripod adaptor at home...grrrr...so all my shots from the evenning are a bunch of pooey...I mean they're ok but I'm not happy (typical picky artist) g;ad you like the bridge...wished I'd had my tripod for that too :P

Dohh, that bridge would have made a great photo!

FWIW, this gem of a tripod has saved me many times and while it's very small and easily fits into my camera bag, it's stable for heavy SLRs and lenses. I've typically have been able to find a trash can, fence pole, or even a marble column inside St. Peters in Vatican city to get the necessary height for the composition I'm after. Here's a photo from last year where I was able to get exactly the photo I wanted because of this mini tripod. I was pressing it against the side of a tree trunk for a 8 second exposure.

Hand held camaera strap wrapped manymany many times around my wrist so if the DSLR slipped it would only travel about 1/2" I wasn't taking any chances, ISO 100, f3.5, 1sec exposure. I was rolling at 1-2 MPH was in an empty lot in the middle of the night, kicked the wheel hard to the left and let roll down hil. I took a few I can't remember I'f I braced this one against the side of the car or not, but I think I did.

Well I decided to be creative for a change, and took a couple shots of my Mini tonight. Ended up taking something like 20-30 pics, and only a few came out reasonably well. Here's one of them. Just wish I could have reduced the lens flare a bit more, but I forgot my lens hood.

I posted another one up on the "Show us your eyes" thread here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...44#post1255444

Enjoy!

Both wonder ful shots. But I couldn't imagine limiting my self to 20-30 a night.

Thanks for the comments!

I'd normally take a lot more than that, but my battery died. Being that I went out on a spur of the moment thing, I didn't think to bring my camera bag w/ a spare battery and stuff. :(

Might try to take more tomorrow night if the weather cooperates.
