Personal MINI security guard...

Our office has implemented a new security company to oversee the safety of all the vehicles in the courtyard. This went into effect this afternoon. As pictured, you can see that these guards literally work for peanuts on the dollar (yes we have a low budget!).

Detail duty, perimeter check:

Detail duty, perimeter check:

Threat detected, proceed with caution

Covert action:

HALT. Stay away from the MINI.

(does he/she see his shadow? )

Here’s a picture of a local friends MINI that also had that security company working in his parking.

That's the wierdest perspective photo I've ever seen. Usually, objects in the foreground appear larger, and the background smaller. The rear wheel appears much, much larger than the front wheel!

I think there might be a little bit of a visual illusion because of the brake dust on the front wheel - making the entire rim of rear stand out that much more. And there might be something going on with the straight line of that pole shadow on the rear wheel ....But I could easily be wrong....

I believe the optical illusion comes from the fact that the front wheels are turned slightly toward the camera. I may be wrong but that is how it looks to me.

Just a comment about the photos, I used a Sony DSC-W1 with the x2.6 telephoto adapter (full zoom), at a downward angle from the third floor. Perhaps that's the "distortion" regarding the size of the rear wheels vs the front wheels.

Also, it could also be that my rear rims are white, whereas the front are silver, crossing color caps; adding to the illusion.

Oh, sorry. It's not brake dust. I really shouldn't jump to conclusions like that.

It appears that the cat is on the sunroof, so no harm to paint.

Now cat hairs . . .

Shortly after I got my MINI in August 2002, I had a problem with my shifter...I could not move through the neutral cross over and only could shift back and forth between first and second. I ended up calling Road Service and had the car towed to the nearest dealer. The dealer service rep removed the battery in order to access the transmission and discovered a walnut had wedged itself in the linkage not allowing the proper movement...no damage just a blockage, now we'll never know was it kicked up by the tires, or was it placed there by a squirrel.

Keep an eye on your security guard !!

He was only on the sun roof

Of course he watches from the inside when it gets too hot. I think he saw a SQUIRREL!

Used to have "fingerprints" from security on the side skirts. Never could figure that out..

..until I remembered I used peanut butter to remove excess wax on the skirts. Washed out MOST of it, but enough remained for this ever-alert senty to make a note and investigate further.

Cheers,
Matthew Z

I agree! The color of the wheels aside, the entire rear of the car looks huge, while the front looks shrunken. Maybe that Sony has a concave lens or something.

I've only lost it twice, and that was because two different people had played with it and neither put it back on the vents completely... and it slid off when i was turning a corner...

Now i check to make sure it's on there right everytime someone HAS to play with it. Heck, someone played with it two days ago and i had to resituate it

*might i add... i've put about 15k miles on the car with that mini sitting in the dash.

/end hijack.
