Some pics from the street rod nationals in Vermont

I still have four rolls of film to scan, so I'll add a few more photos in the future. To start with, I scanned the two rolls of film that were "pushed" (purposely underexposed then over-developed causing more contrast in the resulting picture). One roll was Agfa print film - pushing this worked well, but didn't make that much of a difference in the end result. The other roll was Fuji Velvia 100 - pushing this worked great when there were no shadows involved, and horribly when there were.
Anyway, here are some pictures:
This is Velvia pushed one stop... not at all what I intended, but I love the reflections on the background car's wheel:

More Velvia... again the shadows are toast, but the flames look good.
and the gold Cord (not Ford, Cord) in the background was too cool. I have some pictures of the Cord on some other rolls.

This is Agfa Optima 100 pushed one stop.

Agfa Optima again... the ghost flames on this car were really hard to get a picture of, but the paint was amazingly good.

Another roll down from the street rod show. I loved this Austin pickup, but I still haven't found a good side or 3/4 view of it, but here's a grill detail shot:

This ratrod was my favorite car at the show. The owner / builder and his wife had just gotten married a few weeks ago, and the rod had "just married" painted on the back of it. And an ever-growing collection of empty Corona bottles on the roof.
Look just to the right of the radiator - interesting coolant overflow container (at least I think that's what the Guiness can was for):

I really like the venting(?) on the trim of these cars. And it makes for really cool sparkles on the fender:

There might be such a thing as too much metal flake:

another roll scanned, two more rolls to go...
It's a Cord... I don't know that it counts as a streetrod, but it sure is interesting looking.

This shot of the side of the hood of the Cord didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but how can you not take a picture from that angle?

So that's what happens when you don't have fenders.

I love the crazy chopped and channled cars

This view give a good idea of just how low the car is

Love the Velvia pics. Have you tried cross-proceesing it? Shoot Velvia 50 at ISO 25 and have it x-pro'd for some really "interesting" effects.
That second pic of the Cord is cool! The DoF is great. Also Velvia?
Have you tried Scala?

I was a little dissapointed at how much of that Cord side shot came out as blobby black background. Yeah, I wanted all that background to be out of focus, but not so under-exposed. I'm still learning how to shoot Velvia in harsh lighting conditions. Looks like I might have to start overriding the in-camera meter in some situations.

)But you're right about the hassle of having to send it out. I'm lucky in that the lab I use is one of the few that does process it, so I can just drop it off and pick up in person.

The end!
I was surprised at how many cars at the show (such as this one) were for sale:

I think this is my favorite picture I took at the car show. I cropped out some hot spots that were on the left of the image, and I'm undecided about if I should crop out the blue leg on the right side.

More pictures from the show, and bigger versions of the ones I posted already, are available here:

Only one more roll to scan.
