Look at all the lightning...
Nice shots!
I have some back at the house (at work now). If I rememeber this thread I will post some. It is a time consuming process and can get a bit frustrating (sometimes I feel like those crazy stormchasers) but when you get that one cool shot it is all worth it.

So, how many did you have to take to get those 2. The last time I tried it was something like 25 to 1.
One of my old instructors at school inspired me to do this when I finely got a camera that did so. She said she has had lightning strike 10 feet from here before.
That would be cool
So lets see some pics form others. I know I'm not the only one chasing storms out there.

Nice shots.
A quick storm came through last week so I grab the camera and ran outside. I was limited by the area since I was wanting the MINI in the foreground. Here is one that I liked.
I would love to be out in a wide open area with the MINI and lightning off in the distancee.

Nice shot BTW
Ok. Here are some of my shots. The first two are from a road near my home. I was out there for at least 2 hours trying to get some shots because the lightning was popping off slowly that night. The last was an on the fly out my house window shot
AWESOME shot SB!
AWESOME shot SB!
I tried to catch some lightning, cause it was hitting alot... but i was in a hurry to beat the rain, and it took my 45 minutes to get home and beat the storm... so i had to settle for these (which i'm sure most have seen by now) especially in my signature
Gotta love having a country backyard

I took almost one hundred pictures that night and I got about 5 decent shots.
Very cool lightning bolts.
I got home tonight as a storm was nearing my area. I loaded up the camera and tripod and headed to the back of the neighborhood which is one of the highest parts in the area. Plus there are very few trees to block the view. That's the reason I didn't stick around to see if there were lightning bolts behind those clouds.

That is a great looking shot. As for bringing back up lighting for the MINI. I didn't think about back up lighting until I was ready to take pictures. Luckily since I went the non-runflat route I have a 12v air compressor I keep in the car. The light on it came in handy. I hope that is the only feature I have to use.
Wow, all of these shots are really good. Photography is a hobby of mine and I'm still learning a lot about it as I go. I just was curious how did you set up your cameras to catch the lightning? I mean I am curious about what kind of shutter speeds, apature settings, and ISO speeds to use. Further more how do you catch the lightning? Do you just try to snap the picture as soon as you see it? Do you some how anticipate it? It would be really cool if I could take some lightning pics.

Sorry...got carried away. GREAT shot, btw
