I have a Samsung digimax. I use the night shot setting and adjust the shutter setting to 15 seconds. When we have monsoons here in AZ the lighting trikes all the time. You still have to take many shots to get the right one. I set up the camera on a tripod and aim it to where there is a lot of action. Then I just keep shooting one after another in hopes that lighting will strike again in that area.

It's total chance. That one with my mini in front is one of about 30 shots of nothing.

Good luck
Happy Shooting

Do you some how anticipate it? It would be really cool if I could take some lightning pics.

Yep, the couple of times I have done it was pretty much the same. Long exposure, wide open aperture, hit the shutter, hope something happens while it is open.

Lots of pictures of clouds lighting up from within. One picture of a good strike - if you are lucky.

Cool, I'll try it out. We seem to be getting some pretty regular strong thunderstorms here in Indiana lately so I should have plenty of chances. Now if only I had a MINI to put in those shots. I can't wait...must have MINI!

Well no good lightening to take pictures on last night but the clouds were rolling in pretty nice so I snapped a quick photo before heading to the car show. Gotta love monsoon season in Arizona.

Cool pic Emis.

While you guys were at the Pavilions I was out with our newest DMC member taking night rain shots. And showing off his new stripes.

Holy crap!!

I got caught in the storm tonight. I was looking for a good place to take some lightning shots and somehow ended up right smack in the middle of the storm. So I had to get out to get some pictures.

Well I managed to get these two before a giant dust storm hit me. I bearly made it into my MINI before I was coverd in dust and couldn't even see the road.

Man! What I will do for a good shot.

Well, thanks to you guys I was able to make first attempt at lightning photography. It took me a while to get the camera working (and I had missed some of the storm due to work I had to finish), but I was screwing around with my camera and happened to catch this. Not that great, but I'd say it was pretty good for blind luck on my first try and with me still messing with the settings.
