Amazing pic! I saw you with that Classic and it didn't look anything like this glamour shot! LOL. Isn't that the same with human models? Their photographers make them stand out from real life. Amazing work!

Damn Dave, that is an excellent shot!
I like the way you've let the left-hand side of the frame be in the dark. It gives it that "in the spotlight" effect. And, the saturation in the red really makes the color pop out at you (along with the lighting on the windshield). I know I don't have any pics that come close to this one.
P/S: Thanks for helping out with cleaning the sensor. I tried a few more test shots and it appears that the spot is gone.

First, I shot that using my Nikon SB-600 remotely triggered using the D70 in Commander Mode, so the available light was supplemented with a nicely bounced flash (special thanks to the Palace Station for having painted the roof of the parking structure white
). Nikon's Creative Light System is very slick and I will be purchasing another speedlight (SB-800) in the near future.Second, the photo was shot RAW and intentionally underexposed a touch. I did some RAW editing with Nikon Capture and then did some additional editing with photoshop. There is a huge range of outcomes when post processing, and that's even more true when post processing RAW.

Classic Mini Pic
All I got to say is DAMN!!! My car looks better in picture than in person. You do some great work David. It would be awesome if you could email me the pictures you took. Keep up the good work. Also enjoyed trying to lead the pack down the strip with you CHLPEPR. Hope to do vegas again next year.
Again thanks for taking the great photo.

Anyhow, I'm part way through editing half a dozen other pics, so back to Capture and Photoshop.
I don't have that option. I'm using a non-slr type camera. High-end (at the time of purchase) Fuji Finepix 3100.
If I want to alter apatures and exposures I'll have to dig out my 35mm Olympus OM3.

Agro,
That picture is pretty good. I like the perspective.
A couple thoughts if you don't mind. I would try backing up a bit and zooming in. That will help isolate you subject more. Granted that could have been hard with all of the people walking around.
Also, as has been relayed already, get out your camera's manual if you still have it and read up on the manual mode. You should be able to adjust the aperture so that it can be opened up wide (F/2.8 is has a large opening, but is a small number, where say F/8 is a smaller opening, and F/22 is a very small opening).
Here's another photo from AMVIV taken by getting low, zooming in, and shooting at F/2.8 so as to blur the background and isolate the subject. Those are MINIs in the background, but because of the wide open aperture they aren't very well defined.

Manual? Hmmm....where might that be?

Here's a shot of Randy Webb's "Mule". It would be nice if the shadow on the right wasn't there and the front had a bit more detail to it, but that's the best I could do with one flash in this case.
