The D-SLR Money Pit
Great thread, but I think I've got you all beat...
My Photo hobby in high school lead me to major in Protography at Rochester Institure of Technology. So I've got tens of thousands invested in a BS degree - not counting the hardware!
I've got several Nikon 35mm SLRs & lenses, a 4x5 view camera which I haven't used in years, but for digital I use a Coolpix 950 - not exactly state-of-the-art. Sold off all my darkroom stuff a long while back.
I no longer work in the photo industry, having left for the lucrative (???) IT field years ago. The way things are going in IT, I may be back shooting for a living soon, who knows...

paulgraz - I was a photo major as well...University of Delaware (certainly no R.I.T. though!)...my black hole includes the following - 2 Leica R SLR bodies, 2 Leica M bodies, a Hassy system and some evil lenses....luckily, I can borrow the Nikon D1X from work when needed while I wait for this:

It's a digital back for the Leica R8 / R9 film cameras....
