testy testy! so it DOES come with a camera and harness then. that makes it more reasonable. oh yeah, the orange mechanism with a handle and suction cup IS a dent puller. i have the exact same one sitting in my apartment with a sticker that says "auto dent remover". Not that there is anything wrong with that tho, it is worthless for removing dents, but will definitly stick to a car untill you give it a pretty firm tug

Well stand in my shoes. If someone comes up to you and asks if your product is a joke about such and such being a $10 piece of whatever...anyone in their right mind isn't going to stand around idle and let you say that. So call it testy. I call it being protective of a brand I've been building for the past two years.

You really should have checked out the product in the NAM store before you made your conclusions.

As for the suction mount being a dent puller, it's known as a Vacuum lifter and thus the name VacuCam got it's name.

As far as giving a firm tug, I can rock the MINI with just one suction mount.

As far as dent pullers go, there are quite a few on the market, and they all vary in quality, amount of suction, and build quality. Mine are customized and I do throw out about 30% of the ones I receive due to them not meeting my standards.

Which remote

Actually got the Sony LAN-C remote, RM-VD1... I do at least have a IR remote that came with the camera. Pause works on that while in appropriate mode, but camera would need to be line of sight and would have to reach and touch the correct tiny button. Not optimal for safety.

I think for this trip I'll just bring lots of tapes and dump off to laptop at night if needed.

Well that's your problem. This is the remote I use and recommend and it works in either camera or vcr/edit mode.

I might like to add that we spent a day in the canyons with Richard making our little video trailer for the Dragon drive in night. We had several different cameras rigged as well as microphones and everything worked out very well. The mounts are very versatile and we came up with a number of unique shots. I will post the short video we did here so you can see some more of the VacuCam system in action .

Richard, I might have missed a post, but has anyone used this set-up at an autocross? Holding on at high speed is one thing. Holding on at 4-5 G's is another.

4-5 G's? How'd you score a F1 car for Autocross?

In some of the autox I've been in, it's not so much a sustained g-load, but sudden sharp spikes that get pretty high. Like the slalom part of a course. I'm PDQ through those.

Thats some high G's there. The best I've ever recorded sustained was 1.6 in a banked turn on track with R comps. In a snap spin I hit 2.3 once for an instant.

As others have questioned 4-5 G's is a lot. I have done many autocrosses with my VacuCams. What made them successful is that with their very light weight, and strong suction to the car, they became a part of the car. My Tow Hook cam was also a very good way of seeing first hand what the course looks like. I'll have to look for my autocross videos....

Why? I still pay IB my advertising fees for my business. I don't promote the VacuCams since as Nathan said, I no longer build them, but there are still users out there. What justification do you have for "pulling the threads"?

If what I was told is correct, and the product is no longer for sale, then what's the point of advertising something no one can buy anymore?

I left them as s because there's people who may have support/usage questions or want more information if they're picking them up second hand.

Informational resource not advertising.

Thanks Drew,

That's what I was getting at. I still get PMs and emails from people who have bought them secondhand.
