Go Pro - suctioned inside

Hey peeps - since I have the sunroof and I can't bring myself to suction cup the Go Pro to the roof, I tried it out this morning by suctioning it to the glass inside. Kind of a cool perspective, but I need to move it over to the passenger side. Just way too much of me in the rear view mirror. Not to mention that you can't see the road much at all cuz it's in the way.

Also a decent sense of what my intake sounds like. And if the rear view mirror doesn't date me, Soul II Soul sure will. A good morning, overall. Roads are in good shape and it was a good morning to play!

That video is private. That angle is similar to my set up. Mine is more headrest level though.

Sorry the picture is so huge.

Won't suction it to the roof? C'mon man - that thing can go on any surface that's flat!

I do like that perspective - hanging down from the sunroof. I usually grab some footage from that position during any of the runs I'm filming.

I run mine on the outside on the front windshield just in front of the mirror. That way nothing is blocking it and the view is great.

I like putting it on the drivers side rear side window.

Great use of the sunroof, that's a good perspective especially because you can see the speedo. We used to have ours suctioned to the speedo but it was a hassle putting it on and taking it off all the time so we put a curved mount behind the hazard button. Hey Baker555 where did you find that mount?? or is it home made?

You're killin' me! That is some suction cup for sure, but since a guy dumped his from up on the roof last year on my run, I'm a little leary...

I do like the perspective from inside, too. Gonna keep playing with it.

Baker555 - could've sworn I made that public. It is now. And that mount is pretty cool.

k_h_d - that's a great perspective. Maybe one day I'll get bold and throw it out there.

Is anyone running the Go Pro app for the iPhone? I'm finding it to be a little glitchy. I'm wondering if it's picking up networks on the road and booting me. Maybe if I turn "ask to join networks" on, it won't do that?

It is a video camera mount purchased here:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...st_Camera.html

I removed a couple things, stuck a flat mount on the top, and slapped a few GoPro stickers on it. It works great and has the exact angle I want. the arm that extends past the headrest is adjustable too!

I have that app on my Razr and I don't like it. The concept is cool but I find it to make the camera glitchy. The way mine is set up now, I can just reach back and hit the record button. If I ever need to control it remotely I'll use the app, but only if it's necessary.

I have done it on:
both panels upside down to the sun roof
Side glass (behind door) looking inside the car as well as outside
top of the roof front and rear
on the sunroof outside
On the lower portion of the A panel looking at front tire
In front of rear tire looking rear as I get the car to tri-pod

Pretty much everywhere you can, I have put the go-pro.

The suction cup, when properly used (clean surface and eliminate all air in cup before locking) can hold over 140 mph.

Cool - you have put that thing everywhere. By "eliminating all air in cup", does that mean just press real hard? Is there a trick? I'd bet it was either dirt or this that caused that one one to fall off last year.

Baker555 - when it comes to the app, I don't need it much for inside, but I do like that I can change settings and the preview feature is great! But I really do need the app when I use the tow hook mount. If I find that not automatically joining networks is the issue, I'll pass it along.

Since I have a Hero2 I just ordered the wifi backpack/remote combo kit. It allows you to have the remote record capabilities that the Hero3 has.

Yes, you take your clean surface, put the suction cup on it and make sure it is unlocked, press down not so much as to dent the car but firmly enough to keep it down, and flip the lock over and it holds steady. I have the Hero 3 Silver and the newer suction cup mount seems easier and a little stronger than the one for the Hero 2. But FWIW I know that both will hold at very high speeds.

I prefer to mount to glass if I can as it is easier to clean the round ring off and no potential paint damage.

That's exactly what I have. I find the wrist remote has worked with no issues. I just really want the app to work since changing settings and having a preview feature is just such a bonus.

Since I just bought the suction cup mount, I'm guessing it is the same as yours. I agree with the attaching it to glass - easy to clean, relatively flat and no paint damage. Can't wait to play around with this some more. Thanks for the tip.

Mine suctions to the windshield in front of the mirror on the inside. Change the GoPro settings to upside down, and it works great The NEW GoPro suction mount includes a "short adapter" to make the camera hang very close to the cup instead of the old arm.

I do the same with mine and love the angle of the shot, gets just a touch of the hood at the bottom of the frame and everything else is the beautiful scenery rushing past

Fun video. Seeing the clouds pass over through the sunroof at the end was pretty cool. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, I took the plunge and suctioned it to the sunroof (outside) for my run. Stayed up there all day, no problems. Just have to NEVER slide the sunroof to wide open. And no, I didn't learn the hard way.

MINIS to the Point 5 Video

Just give it a chance to load - it's over 10 minutes long and there are a couple other videos on the same page from previous years.
