I don't even know what a "rear upper stress bar" is.

I'm building a headrest camera mount, similar to:

http://www.filmtools.com/crtwcamo.html

http://www.ae92gts.com/ae92gts_video_mount.html

I actually drilled holes all the way through the bar which the headrest posts will go through. This way there are NO tools needed, just pop out the headrests and slide this over the posts, and put both headrests back in. I am also using rubber grommets in the holes to both protect the head rest posts from getting scored and to reduce vibrations reaching the bar. The headrests fit VERY snugly and the bar is very stable. I think its worth it. Total cost has only been $30 so far for the aluminum bar, black/clear paint, and tripod head, rubber grommets. I'm just waiting on the tripod head to get here to finish it up.

Of course if you already have a RUSB and you just want to use that, I'm sure you can, just buy a tripod head and find someway to mount in to the bar.

Well.let me inform you.The GP has one.It is a bar running from one side of the car to the other(in the interior boot area). The bar connects at the back seat latches. The idea being to give stiffness to the rear upper frame(in theory)I have no back seats,so there it is.I was thinking of mounting a camera to that previously mentioned "mystery" part.I fear all this typing was moot though.Since you don't have one,you probavbly hav'nt mounted a camera on it..Oh well,at least you are no longer in the dark about a rear upper stress bar.

You know they do make a shorter version...I was just worried it would be more susceptible to vibration. But if you buy a tripod head for the RUSB anyway, you can always make yourself a half bar for cheap. Then you can move the seats as much as you'd like since they aren't connected.

For camera...I'm just using my handheld still shot since that is all I have for now. A Sony DSC T70 cybershot...it takes video that is too good for Youtube :D so it's good enough for me.

Not a problem, here is a link for the half version...so you could have an idea of what you may build...if you go that route:

http://www.filmtools.com/cruisecam.html

As for the dunlops, thus far I love them. I unfortunately have not been able to get to a track or autox with them yet, and I'd really like to see how they react once hot. But for street driving I am very pleased. Half the mods in my sig are not yet installed but are eagerly awaiting it Pulley/bushings/springs/plates/x brace will all probably go on within the next week or two...I'd love to get the LSD in there, but I just think that is too much DIY for me

I'm actually not from Texas, just working out here in Plains...WAY out in West Texas...about 70 miles SW of Lubbock. I will happily be returning to CA in the fall

Now I know.

My camera mount goes on the headrest uprights, which you don't have.

Not a mount for a Rear upper strut brace (RUSB) because that's simple; you just need to visit filmtools.com and get a clamp.

For anyone who wants to try a DIY $15 HomeDespair solution that doesn't require a RUSB, see the links that MotorOn posted. Below is the missing image (I moved it into my user gallery).

Here is what it yields... Additional photos can be seen in my gallery's night motion section.

-thanks for pics and post.forgive me for misrepresenting the acronym"RUSB".I carelessly referred to it as a rear upper stress bar,mea culpa-its been a while since Ive referred to it at all.
My only concern with the pics/footage from this POV is the amount of interior you see in the frame. I have yet to take footage from in the car.Is it possible to see more of the road when taking vid footage from this location?I recall Gabe of Motoringfile using this mount location,I think.
-thanks

Are you looking for a track mount or just all around MINI runs and fun roads?

I got this video...

With this setup...

However it does not meet the bolt+strap requirements most racing organizations have, but works wonderfully on the street. I'm working on taking the top piece and using it's universal mount to give me a track approved mounting solution.

The rear bar mount is a good idea ... although you do get a lot of the cabin...

Bit of a different needs if the bar is round or sq.

My headrest mounted 9.99 + 4 hose clamps has been great !

Also look at bicycle / motorcycle bar clamps used for cameras, gps, even horns ... there are all kinds of great stuff out there ...I'll dig up some links and photos.

even something like this
http://detours.us/product_info.php?products_id=119 only $3.00each
if the bar is round, even 2 with a flat plate about 4 or 5 inches apart.

do you have the rear bar already ?

If not I could make you one with any diameter tube or sq tube.

I could custom make a bracket to your specs and have that part of the bar.

I have been looking for an reasion to build some rear bars.

The photo was taken with a ultra-wide angle fish eye lens as I did want the interior and rear side windows in the photo. Use a zoom lens and adjust to taste. However, the front seats will block your view and I'll defer you posts others have made about headrest camera mounts.
