jessica,

The 28-300 is really convenient, and surprisingly sharp. Expect however, barrel distortion and pincushioning on the short and long ends of the range. Needless to say, the long end should be used in good lighting.

Cheers,

John

I got the Tamron 28-300 XR Di a few months ago as a gift from a friend of mine. It hasn't been off my camera since I got it! I've had a lot of fun with this lens!!

I took a photo class last year (last year of college) and LOVED being able to develop my own film. It was so cool. I'm so jealous that you're creating one in your house! Go you!

thanks i have wanted to build a darkroom since taking bw photo in 9th grade. i did my first year of college at Academy of Art in San Fran, and loved it. I have always found the developing/making prints process of photography to be the most fun.

its very easy and not expensive to develop your own negatives at home. i bought a light trap film developing canister from BHphoto online for around $15. and the only thing else u need to buy is the chemicals.

once i get my enlarger and have everything set up, you are more than welcome to come use my darkroom. u will just have to bring your own photo paper of course.

also, there may be local places (such as colleges, highschools, or photo stores) where you can pay hourly to use their darkrooms.

Cheers

SF? My home town... and if you didn't already know, there's a really good reason to come back in town besides visiting your alma mater...

Happening at the best weather time of the year.

also, im leaving for san fran in 4 days to visit my college friends. Going to school in san fran was the first time i have ever been off the east coast. But it was definately the most amazing place i have ever been to, and is my favorite city! I love san fran

Canon S3is hacked to do RAW.
Canon EOS 650.

I'm just starting out taking pictures and found out just how amature I really am after trying to take pictures of my car. Caught myself so many times reflected in the frame.

It would almost be a crime to not participate when such an event is happening "in my own backyard". I'll likely participate in about half the weekend and sign up to give rides to out of towners.

And to stay on topic, yes, I'll bring the Canon 40D along

Gee, I'm not the only one with film cameras, although it does put us in the minority nowadays.

Canon FTbN
Canon A-1
Canon AE1-Program
(just sold another FTbN and a T-60)
Minolta Weathermatic Dual

and in FD mount:
Canon 24/f2.8
Canon 35-70/f3.5-f4.5
Canon 85/f1.8
Canon 135/f2.8
Sigma 300/f5.6SD
Canon Extender 2x-A
and lots of extension tubes and related macro stuff.
2 Canon flashes and one Sunpak flash.

(just sold my Canon 35/f2.8Tilt/Shift and 50/f1.4 lenses)

and lots of darkroom stuff - still set up although I don't use it anymore.
I am going to start using medium format B&W film and B&W infrared film again,
and I develop that myself, although I now scan the negatives instead of using the
enlarger.

and in 120/220:

Fuji GS645S Pro (the camera I use the most - 60/f4 medium format rangefinder)
Voigtlander Bessa
Voigtlander Bessa I

My wife has a
Rollei 28-90 Point and shoot

and our only digital camera is hers

Canon Powershot SD950IS

no problem! also, look at BHphoto's website, or google other photo websites, because you can ususally find pretty good prices on chemicals. good luck with the photo lab search. im sure you will be able to find a local lab to use for a good price.

well if you are going to be signing up to give rides, then count me in! since the week of the the event is my first week of school, i wont have time to drive all the way from DC to san fran, and will only be flying in for a few days, so i will be needing a mini owner to donate some time for driving me around. so let me know if your up for it! and if not, hope to see you there!
