Long Time No Pix

I'm still alive.

Finally got a chance to get out on a MINI run with SCMM over the weekend.
We went out to Vasquez Rocks Park in Agua Dulce here in SoCal. I didn't take too many pics but thought I'd share a few I did manage to snap off.

#1: Not Pokey, a newer SCMMer's convertible

#2: Handle a MINI, playing around with DoF and my Cooper

#3: MCS Rocks, a glimpse of the rock formations

#4: Max 7, a buddy's DS/B all fixed up

I had my teen daughter with me and was showing her the benefits of using a polarizer so I used mine for all the above shots. Pics 1,2, & 4 were shot with a 105mm Nikkor while the third pic was with the (Nikon) D70's kit lens.

Wow, I am suprised no one says anything. Great shots, very good techniques. How do you like 105mm? I am deciding whether to get Nikon 105mm or Tamron 90mm.

Love the Nikkor!
It has VR, in case that's a plus for you. Serves as nifty portrait lens also. Good bokeh.

Thanks for your comment.

Great creative photos as always Juan. Glad to hear you're still out there taking photos.

The bokeh on the door handle photo is very nice. I was tempted to upgrade from my 105mm micro to the new VR model, but I was reading somewhere that the VR doesn't work when focused in closely which is were I need the VR function the most. Have you done many micro shots with the lens to see if the VR is working or not?

I'm not sure if these are would qualify as examples of the VR at work since the shutter speed wasn't all that slow but they are handheld.

A bit, thanks Juan! The micro focusing mode looks great, but I'll have to con you into venturing out in the early foggy am to take some micro focused flower photos at f/16. You're right that 1/100 of a second isn't going to use the VR function much.

Your daughter's camera, nice; teeth, not so nice.
Thanks again!
