People who have formed a club....HELP
On Saturday, Feb 1 the Kansas City Cooper Car Club will have it's innagural meeting. Since I have had a horrible time trying to locate KC owners (apparently there are not enough cool people in KC to own a MC or MCS) this club is going to be small....two people so far...but you gotta start somewhere. If anyone who has formed a club has any suggestions how to contact owners in the area please let me know. If there are any KC owners on this site, we're going to motor the twisties from KC to Weston, MO. It's supposed to be 60 degrees and sunny...not too bad for KC on Feb 1.
Besides checking all the boards (mini2, roadfly and MCO) also go to local dealers and make some flyers and ask them to hand them out to customers. I also made some business cards at home with the MINI sites listed along with my screen name and invited the reader to Motor. Then when I'm driving around I place them on any windshield of a MINI or mini I see.
Doesn't hurt to start a yahoo group .....that's what I did last July and it pulled in some area people. Start posts here and on MINI2 and Roadfly to see if it generates any interest.
Minimotorin's idea of going to dealerships is great....I mean, that's where the people in your area are going to be getting their cars.

Our group has Yahoo groups, a webpage (www.minioki.com - not up yet), and we keep flyers for the club with my e-mail (for the local area) or the founder's (for areas where a branch hasn't been started up yet), as well as the Yahoo! group addresses in our cars. When we see a Mini, bang, put it under their windshield wiper. I also have my dealer (she's also a member, ehe) passing out flyers with every car she sells... well, hopefully she still is). I'm sure you can get your dealer to do that too... just see if they want to sponsor you - free advertising. It has perks, we can get the occasional free stuff from Classic Mini now. (Julie, yer the best!) My area doesn't have many Minis, and I have 21 members. Holding a Meet next sunday, and 17 people so far have RSVPed... only been around since November. So, yeah, pass out flyers to recruit. Look for larger areas that might cover your area, and ask if you can make a club that's a branch of theirs, so it has a pre-established name (that's what I did with mine, I just recently changed the name from MiniOKI of NE Ohio to MINI NEO, now that I have established mine.) Good luck!
