Great pics, Maxwell! (i'm even in a couple of them . Could we link to these from the St. Louis club page? (www.stlmini.com) I'm sure Aaron will be in here to check them out, and he typically puts links to pic collections like this on the "Links" page of the site. It was great meeting you and all the out-of-town kindred spirits. Hope to see you again some time (I think I'm hooked, so I'll probably be doing more of Phil's track days

Oh yeah...also, if anyone really likes a particular picture of something (namely yourself), I've got much larger original files that I would be happy to e-mail you...I just don't have the webspace to keep 'em posted.

OMG.....what a fun time!!! I still can't believe the we didn't have any rain. Counting the days til Nov when I can go back again...this time in the intermediate class. Maxwell, thanks for the pics and the use of your extra helmet...hopefully I'll see you in Nov.

I also want to thank Aaron from the St. L club and Phil for getting things arranged and providing the post day meal for all the MINI people. I learned a lot of valuable skills at the school and will recommend it to anyone....especially people who have kids who are just starting to drive.

The instruction was fun, but there's nothing like coming out of turn 4 in 3rd as you're just edging towards the rev limiter....then slamming it into 4th as you streak down the straightaway doing 110+ followed by a brake....downshift...turn and stomp on the gas to take turn one doing about 90mph......my hands were literally shaking after each of the four 15 min. track sessions.

Here's a pic of the saab that didn't fare so well....but the driver and passenger walked away.
Saab
Sorry the resolution is so crappy, but I took the pic with my phone.

Also the Civic in the pics from Maxwell was definitely a going concern and a sleeper. Although it looks like a standard stock car, it's a dual turbo screaming machine......the two turbo Supras couldn't catch it.

I repeat for emphasis:

Anyway...in re-reading what I just typed, I think I've completely regressed to junior high. Thanks a lot Phil Wicks! (I'll jut let the words stand for posterity's sake.)

>>Phil's website is rarely updated, so I wasn't aware of when the next class was (*NUDGING STL MIKE HARD*).
>>
>>If there is any way that I can scrape together the funds (along with funds for some much needed tires!!!) I'll be there.

Well I don't have an exact date and from what Phil was saying they are still trying to secure track time so it may be early next year before the next event if they can't get a Sat sometime in Nov.

To everyone that attending the Phil Wicks Track Day:

Thanks so much for coming! Phil and I were so glad to see such a great group of people show up and learn. It sounds like everyone had a great time and learned a lot. I'm sure several of you are contemplating car upgrades at this point! I especially want to thank all of the Chicago and KC people that drove a long way for the class. It was great to meet and talk with all of you. Both the KC and Chicago clubs are coming on strong, which is GREAT to see. The Midwest clubs are turning out great, and I really look forward to seeing what sort of joint events we can put together going forward.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for coming and having a good time. I'm glad everyone enjoyed the little dinner Phil and I cooked up. It's always great to eat and talk MINIs!

I have posted al the photos I have thus far of the event here: Track Day Photos

If you have some that I can add, please e-mail them to aaron@stlmini.com.

As soon as I have info on future track days, I will be sure to e-mail it to all the Midwest clubs.

Thanks and Motor On!
Aaron
