Waiting for the Helenblitz stories.
Waiting for the Helenblitz stories.
I hope every one got back safe and sound and had a great time in spite of the weather. I saw some posts from the SC group and they all raved about the great time they had and praised Shaun and all the rest of the MGM who worked so hard putting this event together. I wish I could have been there.
I'm looking forward to Sat. to hear all the great stories.

Helenblitz Weekend Summary
The weekend was wet but full of fun no less. We had over 60 cars in attendance on Saturday. There were a lot of cancellations though due to the weather. We had attendees from all over…MO, AL, TN, NC, SC, FL & of course GA. In spite of the weather we sold raffle tickets, provided door prizes, held a silent auction, welcomed Phil Wicks as a guest speaker, carried out a very wet car show, & presented trophies for the show & RC cars. MINI USA gave us some goodies to give out & Global Imports couldn't unveil the new Cabrio but brought a JCW Clubman for everyone to look over instead. We held a dinner & breakfast at the Unicoi Lodge & were even fortunate enough to have a free presentation given to us by the DNR after the dinner. We had a few groups follow our suggested scenic drives & others took the Habersham winery tour. (We’ll bring a bottle to Saturday’s meeting to show you the Helenblitz label Shaun created & had the winery apply to Merlot bottles especially for us.) After our activities on Fri & Sat, many of us enjoyed some additional but informal festivities at the Troll Tavern.
For the ride home Sunday, our group ran into rain, sleet, & snow. But the MINIs handled those conditions nicely. We did stop along Gray Hwy to document the MINIs in the snow. Check out the attached picture.
Overall we had a VERY full weekend. A great big thanks goes to everyone that helped out. I’d start to name individuals but sure as I start I’m sure I’ll forget to mention someone. So thanks to everyone…clubs, individuals, sponsors, vendors, & participants in the event. This whole event was orchestrated to raise money in support of the Speedway Children’s Charities (http://www.speedwaycharities.org/). With your support, this event raised just over $850. Thank you so much for your hard work. Everyone played such an integral part in this event & without your support this wouldn’t have been possible.
FYI - Woody took some awesome pictures over the weekend & I'm wading through them this week to post on our website. Shaun is working on an article for MC2 which should summarize the event nicely. We’ll reply to this post when we have those created & published.

Jane and I had a wonderful time. It was our first meet in four years. Shaun and Jennifer did a wonderful job. The weather cannot stop a bunch of like minded people from getting together. Here is some photos that one of the members from Atlanta Minis posted on their site.

Thanks again for the great time!

Thanks jjo for the great up date. I'm glad everything went as well as it did
in spite of the weather. Thanks bamamini for posting the pictures. As they came on the screen I was watching for the cars I know and I saw several.
Next year I'll be going for sure. This event goes to show what great leadership we have in our group and the hard work by many of our members. As they used to say in the Navy..... "Well Done"!!
