You need a GMRS/FRS two-way radio. I have the Motorola T6510 but there are lots of others. You can get this type of two-way radio from Radio Shack, Costco, Walmart, etc. There are some really cheap ones that don't have the sub-channel capability so don't buy any of those. Prices for the ones you want range from $39 to $89. I bought mine at Costco when on sale for $59. MidCal and several other clubs use channel 7/subchannel 21.

costco still has the same deal... Guess I'll buy it when I get a chance. It's the 10 mile ones now for 60 bucks :D

They work well, but the 10 mile range is line-of-site with nothing in between on a clear day with no smog and a full moon.

I found last year at Amviv that 2 come in handy. That way you always have one charged up. Also to share.
