Nelson Ledges Fun Day 6-15-07 =)
Hmmm... that's kinda personal, isn't it, Chuck? I mean... I like you and all but...
Seriously, I have a 100-300 apochromatic Sigma for my Canon, but my digital isn't a full-frame camera so it's actually more like a 375mm when maxxed out. Not fantastic, but it should get me close enough unless I'm really far off the track. I have to shoot with it wide-open, though, since it's an older lens and doesn't commuinicate properly with my digital body, but that's OK - I was planning on taking some longer shutter exposures with some panning to try and get a bit of background motion blur...

you guys are killing me
If they run the start/finish from the same spot as the Classic event there is a bridge that goes over the track that you can see from and on the other side is a right hand turn. I'm sure there are other cool spots. We stayed up there and on a straight away to watch.

Oh God!!! I knew when I typed that I was in trouble.
With your kit lens the 300 & it's crop factor you should have plenty of reach.
Like kimoz says shooting from the bridge gets you good shots of cars heading down the straight. Shoot the other way from the bridge & you'll get shots of cars entering turn 1.
Walk down the outside of the track to 13 & shoot from the grassy knoll.Just watch out for that second shooter.
If you stand over by the false grid you can get shots of cars coming through the kink & into turn 12 & into 13.
If you go to the back of the infield you can catch cars in turn 2 & into the oak tree bend.
As you can see there are lots of opportunities for photos.

Glad to here you guys are coming too.
See you in the morning.
I'm not taping mine up, but I do understand why you'd want to do that. My car already has a galaxy of stone chips in it.

YOU GUYZ ROCK & ROLL (really fast)
Today was great, I (we) had an awesome time. I can't tell you how much I appreciated all the things you all had to share/teach me and my little 5-speed. You are truly very special people and made the experience all the more special
I love my car and it is awesome to see how onece again I'm not alone. Hopefully we can make this a yearly event. It was fun to see so many minis mixing it up with the other cars. We out numbered them in every "race" and represented the make proudly. I'm sure the envious Corvette, Porche & Lambro guys are online to miniusa.com right now placing thier orders.
Thanks again and to those that missed it there is always next time, it was well worth the $$$.
Anyone up for a drive a bit north of Columbus feel free to pm me.
Can't wait to go to work and brag.
Kim
(Katie got some ok pics and a couple movies)

mcbrenden those are some very nice shots.
I really like that perspective from the starters stand.
Funny there was someone up there shooting pictures when I went up to ask the starter where the closest gas was. We were running out of gas with 3 sessions left to run.
I'm guessing that was you. Sorry we didn't get to meet you & your dad. Trouble is at a track day things seem to always be going fast on & off the track.
I did see your dad out there. He was very good out there.
Did you get any pictures of the other MINI's there? There was a Red/White Cooper & a Royal Grey Cooper S along with my Hyper Blue/White.
EDIT>>> There was also a BRG/White with an onion jack on the roof.

Those are awesome shots. My car is the one with the 4 Hellas up front. I'd love to have the high res versions. I'd like to get a poster made.
Overall yesterday was a blast. I came up with my friend Dale, who owns the red viper. I rode with him a few laps and it was scary fast. I shot some video yesterday too. I will post it soon as a get a chance to edit it.

I left my stop watch at home on porpoise. My goal was to put a big stupid grin on my face. Mission accomplished!
It was good seeing you out there driving. Sorry we didn't get to chat.
