Get on LinkedIn and search all your old companies for contacts you know, then message them to let them know that you're looking and what you're looking for. If you hear of a company hiring, you can often ask your contact list if THEY know anyone there. if so, they might recommend you to that contact, which gives you an edge when it comes to interview time (in theory anyway).
In my case, someone approached an old co-worker of mine asking if they knew of any Product Managers with experience in anti-fraud, and this co-worker scanned his contact list, saw my name and recommended me. This led to my contacting the hiring manager on my old co-worker's recommendation and from there to interviews...
