NO Code??
NO Code??
So, my "Check Engine Light" has been off and on for about 2 weeks now in my '06 R50. I had a service appt this morning at Cinci MINI and when they pulled it into the service bay, the light went out
Anyway, when they plug it into the computer, apperently, there are NO CODES stored
...so they have NO IDEA what the problem is. According to them, ALL reasons for the light to be on would have stored a code.
I guess at this point the only thing they can do next is contact their "engineers" (via email) and hope they can figure something out. BUT in order to do that, I would have to leave my R50 there...
I chose NOT to leave it there for now, but am waiting for the light to come on again (if it does) and then I'm gonna run it down to AutoZone, etc like I SHOULD have done in the first plpace and HOPE for a code...
My only thoughts (which I mentioned to them) was if the device that 'stores the codes' (ECU?) was faulty. The service tech said this was unlikely, but as weird as this situation was, it's possible.
So...Has ANYONE else had this problem with an '06 MC?
(sorry so long...
)

I know this is an older post, but did you find out what was causing the SES light to come on.
My light came on today but when I attached a code reader to it there were no codes.
Maybe it is a Mini specific code that a generic code reader would not pick up?
Reset the light and will wait to see if it comes back on.
Car is running fine otherwise.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Never got anything from it. Took it to the dealer, and they SAW the light on, pulled it into the bay to check it and *poof* the light was gone. They had no codes, so had no idea.
To date, the light has not come back on (knock on wood
). Hopefully yours will do the same thing!
((Now, if mine comes on again b/c I said something about it...I will be very upset...
