A friend of mine in Northern VA just placed an order, but she won't see her 'S' until march. It's amusing to me that people in Va are getting the cold weather packages, though. I'd imagine that by the end of the year there will me alot more active Miniites out there. It'll probably be years before people stop asking "Yeah, but who makes it?"

Some of us have already started such a group. We had 4 MINI's on our first outing and went from arlington to annapolis and had a blast. We met up with some Central VA MINI owners a few weekends back and had 14 MINI's motoring on the backroads of Virginia. Even more fun.

Please join our discussion board so we can set up future events and drives.

If any of you guys are interested.....
Here are the driving directions that my friend John has put together for the Calvert County, Maryland drive and picnic on September 7th. If you know that you can come at this point, please RSVP to me with your name and Mini color!
Let me know if you have any additional questions....I am working on tshirts for everyone too....not that we have to wear them all at the same time or anything, but just something for you guys to have.....

Cheers!
L.Mini

DIRECTIONS:

TATE MINI is located on Bay Dale dr. just off of Rt 50, one exit east of Rt 2 no. Behind Chevy and BMW dealer.

Leave TATE MINI at approx 10:30 At this point reset odometer to 0 mi.
Take Rt 50 west stay towards the right.
At 5.4 mi.exit onto Rt 665, ARIS T. ALLEN blvd. , at 6.2 mi. take ramp on right to RIVA rd.
Turn right at bottom of ramp onto RIVA rd. At 10.4 mi. turn left on BEARDS POINT rd. continue to traffic light at Rt 214
go thru light, road is now called BRICK CHURCH rd., go to end.
At 13 mi. turn right on Rt 2 At 18.4 mi. turn left on Rt 255
At 19.1 mi. turn right on SUDLEY rd. ( this is where it starts getting real good )
At 21.8 mi. sudley rd goes left stay to right, road becomes FRANKLIN--GIBSON rd.
At 23.5 mi. stop at intersection of Rt 258, go thru, At 24.5 mi. stop at intersection of Rt 256, go thru.
The intersection at 256 can be dangerous so be careful...
At 26.1 mi. turn left on LEITCH rd. ( check out the trees ) this road runs around Tacaro farm, it is incredible w / buttressed walls and more brick work than you can believe.
At 27.0 mi. turn right on TOWN POINT rd. the main house of Tacaro is on the right.
At 27.8 mi. 4 way intersection, go thru and follow along Bay.
At 30.0 mi. turn left on Rt 261. At 30.4 mi. bear to the left on FRIENDSHIP rd. into North Beach ( kinda looks like a small ocean city )
At 34.3 mi. turn right on 7th st, take next left ( one block ) onto Rt 261. At 35.3 mi. go straight thru light at Rt 260.
At 35.7 mi. go thru light at MEARS POINT rd. At 41.3 mi. make a soft left onto STINNET rd.
At 43.3 mi. 3 way intersection go left on EMANUEL CHURCH rd. At 44.1 mi. 3 way intersection go straight ahead on WILSON rd.
At 45.1 mi. turn right on DARES BEACH rd. ( Rt 402 ) At 48.3 mi. at light turn left onto Rt 2 / 4 south.
At 52.7 mi. turn right on BROOMES ISLAND rd. At 55.0 mi. turn left on MACKALL rd.
At 60.5 mi. turn right at entrance of Patterson Park. depending on weather and traffic, road may be rather dusty.
Windows up and vent system closed. The park has picnic areas and rest room facilities. There is a separate parking area for the beach.

Now for the trip home. If you haven't had enough of winding roads by now, you may go back the same way that you came. If however you want a quicker way home you can go back to Rt 2 / 4 north follow that up to where they split ( 2 going off to the right and 4 staying more or less straight )
Rt 2 will take you back to Annapolis and Rt 50 or Rt 97, and Rt 4 will take you to Rt 301 or the Washington beltway. Going home should be quicker in any case.

Here's to a good time.
