Chuck,

First, Congratulations on you new MINI!!! Second, welcome to MCO!

Check out the PittStop MINI Club website and sign up to join our Yahoo Group for more information and discussion of local activities. (Click the image in my signature to go to the Club's website which has a link on the main page to sign up for the Yahoo Group).

As a matter of fact, there is currently some interest growing about a get-together at the Quaker Steak & Lube in Robinson Towne Center.

We are also wrapping up the details for our next Club events which are the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (July 19) and the Summer Party in Indiana, PA hosted by The Roadster Factory the weekend of August 9.

Hope to see you at some (or all) of the events!

Chuck,

If you'd like more events (and this extents to all Pittsburg club members), my NE Ohio club (MINI NEO) periodically holds events... I find it fun to go to other clubs' events, such as Indianapolis, Columbus and Mid-Atlantic. Visit our website at http://www.minineo.org for more info - it should be up soon, and will have a place for people to sign up for the member registry. Its a free club, by the way.

My dks/dks mcs is due on monday. Hopefully, I'll be able to pick it up sometime this coming week. I'd be interested in meeting up sometime. Also, I was told by Rhett at the dealer last week that P&W pays for the first year dues for the local MINI club. Can anyone else confirm this?

P&W told me that to C615586, how do we go about doing this? do we just call and tell them, or do we have to go into the dealer?

Congrats on getting your new car. You'll absolutely love it! I recently relocated to this area and would like to get together with some of the other PittStop Members before the July 19th PVGP event. I originally suggested the Quaker Steak and Lube get together for some wings and beverages. I'd love it if others would join us! (hint...).

Weekends are best for me until I get my work schedule undercontrol. Anyone know if there are all you can eat wing nights at all at Quaker State? Anyone want to suggest a date?

BTW, here is the link to the Yahoo Group and the PittStop Club Website.

Let's make the wings outing happen! I need to clog some arteries.

I know it's not a weekend night (and Tuesday is all-you-can-eat night), but the most distant member of the PittStop MINI Club will be in town on July 9 (Wednesday). It would be great to have a "homecoming" get together to celebrate the arrival of none other than the infamous 8ball!

8ball is traveling across the country from Seattle to visit family and is passing through Pittsburgh on the way. He actually was the originator of the club's name and was our very first member to join via the website!

As for getting notification out to members, it can be a bit of a task. For whatever reason, it seems that most folks in our group still respond best to snail mail - not email or web postings. That is unfortunate =because it is costly and laborious putting together a physical mailing that goes out to over 400 people!!! For informal gatherings such as this, I think it is best left to email, Internet, and word-of-mouth. However, the Yahoo Group is getting more and more active lately, so I would encourage everyone to continue their efforts posting there!

BTW, I'm definitely going to dinner with 8ball SOMEWHERE on the 9th. So, if we want to roll these two ideas together, I think it would be great and you can certainly count me in!!

On a bit of a side-note, I would love to see more "grass-roots" types of informal gatherings such as is being discussed here among MINI owner's in the area. The club can certainly organize events for each month, and sometimes even multiple events per month, but it is a LOT of work. For that matter, we're always looking for a few good people to assist in organizing and planning events. (Case in point, we need volunteers to help with registration for the Vintage Grand Prix.)

Oh, and as for the first year's dues being paid by the dealership - that is true for anyone that purchases a MINI from MINI of Pittsburgh (although the offer is not retroactive) - just note it on your application (use the "how did you hear about us" field in the online app.) Send me an email at jwelsh [at] pittstopmini.org if you have any questions.

July 9th sounds good to me . I am always up for events for those visiting. What time on the 9th? Anytime after 6:45pm is best for me. Should we set this in stone then? I say ... yeah!

Mini2Go, I'd be more than happy to help you organize these little shin-digs as much as I can (work schedule permitting). I think these are an important part of the "MINI/Mini Community". Being behind someone on a motoring adventure is great but you should also hang around and talk over coffee/wings/beer/soda (or pop as you folks call it around here ) once in awhile.

That being said I've found some excellent roads here in Beaver County. I will havve to map a route out one day for a future MINI Meet.

See you all on Wednesday. Please let us know about a time.

Happy 4th of July Everyone!

I'll be home, visiting family from August 1st to the 16th. Unfortuantely, I won't have a computer during that time...egads!!! I'd like to try to get together with some Pburgh MINI folks while I'm there. Nothing formal....maybe just drinks and dinner. If this sounds do-able, please PM me for a phone number exchange, as this will be the only way I can contact folks while I'm in the Burgh. Thanks in advance....
