Need a good mechanic in DFW
Hi.
I have a 2003 MCS and am in need of a good mechanic in the DFW area.
Reason is I have been taking my MCS to MINI of Dallas and am tired of being ripped off. I know there must be some honest mechanics out there. Maybe?
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Please post what you find.
Myself just paid almost $1500 for a power steering pump, fan motor, lines and labor on a 2003 mini at Bob's Tire and Auto Center in Lewisville.
I know this thread might be old. Did you ever find a good mechanic for your Mini? I'm might need one soon and looking for recommendation. Preferably someone who specialize in BMW/Mini. I'm in the DFW as well.
JLMiinii there are 2 great non dealer mechanics in the area. One nearer Dallas and the other in Arlington.
Check out our website Metroplexmini.org
on there the user names are sk8terboy (arlington) and fasteddie (dallas)

I wouldn't recommend Bob's tire and Auto in Lewisville. He used to have a great Mini mechanic there but I think he moved on. Just had some work done there and it's apparent that he couldn't care less if you like the service and the workmanship was like a 16 year old kid did it in high school shop class.
I'm originally from Dallas and have owned many German and British automobiles. By far and away, the very best mechanic in the DFW area for anything German is 911 Enterprises. They have specialists who only work on BMW and Mini Cooper cars.
Hope this helps.

Any good non-dealer repair shops in Plano, Frisco or farther north? I live in the Sherman/Denison area and recently purchased a 08 Clubman S. Lots of fun to drive, but think it might need a little work. Any suggestions?

Ok, I'll check them out. Wasn't sure if your 2008 post was still good for now.
Was hoping for someone closer to Grayson County, but Lewisville is only an hour or so. Went to Krause's Automotive, in Lewisville. They just did a pre-purchase check on my Mini. They seem pretty good too, but don't really know, since all they did was look and not repair.
Thanks.

Thank you, sir.
I've been using Southwest Auto for my cars for the past several years. They are located near I35E and 635 in NW Dallas. They service BMW, Mini, Audi, Mercedes, and Volvo.
They are a class act. They are cheaper than the dealer, but maybe not as cheap as the smaller indy operations. They operate a lot like dealership service departments; that is, they have service advisers who make appointments and they always call me later on the morning that I drop off my car with their findings on the reported issue, any recommended services, and price quotes. I've never had an issue with their work, and they're really good at explaining options and helping plan for major maintenance (like the timing belt on my Vo).
Another smaller shop I tend to use is Hance Auto just east of Love Field. Thad was my go to guy there, he's gone now (five-0), his assistant took over, his name is Kendall.

They were very professional and the work was done on time and done right the first time. No complaints at all!
Can anyone make a recommendation for a shop to do a clutch replacement on an '09 JCW R55 ? Preferably in the north (e.g., Denton County) area?
I got a very reasonable quote from Way Motor Works in Atlanta, and for the difference in price between them and local dealers (>$800 less!), I'm seriously considering driving to Atlanta to get the work done.
