Does anyone know where to buy accessories such as a bike rack for the back of the mini?

As far as we know the only accessory for bikes from MINI is a roof sytem. The base system retails for $163.00, install kit $27.00, and bicycle holder $94.00 for a retail total of $284.00 plus shipping. We can offer it at $255.60 plus shipping. If you are interested please email us at bmwparts@Classicautocampus.com

I've been checking both THULE and YAKIMA. They do not have anything for roof mounts. They have plenty for hitch mounts, but I don't have a hitch for the Cooper S and I don't know know if there is one available for the MINI. Besides if it did, I wouldn't want one. Drilling into the top to install the MINI roof rack is not an option for me either. Thats why I have friends who have trucks to carry our sports stuff.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't come here to be marketed to. There are other members here that are affiliated with MINI aftermarket companies, and they respect that.
This is the second post I've read in five minutes that reads like a sales brochure. Buy an ad banner or something. Have your site posted in the Dealer Links section. Just keep it casual in the forums, eh?

That being said, I THINK Thule has a strap-to-the hatch bike rack. I know there are plenty out there. Had one on my GTI.

there is a hitch out there (see atacment) http://www.mini-madness.com/item.htm...p;PRID=1237223

its not load rated yet, but for just a bike rack, you shouldnt have any problem. I would and will go this route when I get my mini. This way the roof is not cluterd up with a rack and when not in use you can simpley take it off...

In regards to Verruckt's comment above about "being marketed to". The name of this forum is Marketplace. I feel it is completely appropriate for users to "market" their goods here. In fact, that is why I entered this forum. Just curious, why did you decide to surf here?

I am looking for a rack too! I have a hitch mount that slides into a small box style hitch that I love. I can mount both road bikes on it and lock them tight. I haven't been able to find a hitch for the mini and won't relocate my MCS tail pipe sooooo I am still looking.

I have a connection at THULE and they said that they will never design a roof rack for the MINI. The best looking hatchmount I have seen is the Saris Bones rack. I might have to do that unless i decide to get holes drilled in my roof!

I don't mean to offend anyone out there, so please don't be offended. When I post messages here in "THE MARKETPLACE" I am posting to get the information out there that MINI owners can get MINI (real Mini, not aftermarket) accessories for very good prices. We sell our accessories well below Mini retail. Many of the Mini accessories are way over priced when priced at retail. If you want to pay more for an aftermarket item as opposed to a MINI item thats your own choice, but there are dealers out there willing to sell accessories much cheaper then retail. I feel the owners would like lower prices on these items. If the Mini owners on this site would like me to stop posting please tell me in the following posts, and I will stop immediately. My intention isn't to offend anyone, nor is my intenttion to make a lot of money off these interent sales either. If that were the case I wouldn't be selling our items we stock at 10% over DEALER COST and 20%off special order items. If I feel that the owners like saving say $200 on CD changers and almost $600 on a wheel/tire combo, but if you don't like savings then more power to you. Please if you all would like me to stop posting then by all means let me know, please!

Trailer Hitch for both MC & MCS a 100# tongue load, 1000gvw trailer hitch that easily becomes invisible by removing two bolts(same size as your lug bolts)and drop of the rear piece. will have 5 back from the powder coaters by Fri. Will fit with any exhaust including a nifty new wide oval tipped semi- race version comeing soon from BORLA. Also if your concerned about MPG I noticed an instant increase in range when I installed BORLA's standard system, maybe a coincidence, maybe it was the 15 lbs I shed in the process, or maybe it's justdoing what they claim!
More on the hitch at hackersrepairs.com Or call 1-518-477-9752 days
PS to VERRUCKT above don't bother reading this it's a commercial

I wanted to get more information on the hitch but hackersrepairs.com doesn't compute. Is it me, you or THEM! Would like to look at and read a web site vs a long distance telephone call. Thanks! Ed

IT WAS ME! I finally got it right and found the site. From the pictures that are available it seems that the hitch is for the MCS. Is there also a Cooper version? Any drilling done or does it use existing holes? I am also suprised with the rating at 1,000 towing weight and 150 tongue weight; usually the tounge weight is about 10% of towing weight. Any comment on that? What is the price? Thanks in advance for your time in replying. ED

About Tongue weight I have jacked the rear tires off the ground by jacking under the trailer ball, I have no qualms about stepping up onto the ball, I would bet that if the hitch were tied to an unmovable object that I could spin the tires attempting to move forward.( I'll wait for someone to place that bet though as I have but 1 MINI to give). What I don't need is someone, foolish enough to tow something of more mass than what I think the MINI is capable of safely handling, buying one of my products and their lawyer trying to make me regret it later.
