I'd be all over that if yours was an auto. I suck and can't drive stick.

Good luck though...that is a BEAUTIFUL MINI.
Go to the dealer, drive an auto, then have him/her show you how to drive a stick, you will buy the stick.

I got tired of shifting years ago and have had autos since 1966 and "forgot" how to drive a stick. Bought an 03 MCS stick and no problem.

Tried a few years ago to teach my daughter (16 at the time) how to drive a stick and she would not listen. Got a friend's son to teach her. She was back in about an hour and never had a problem with sticks again.

If you pass this up you will be missing a deal from the looks of it.

Just give it a try.

Earl

Buying a car is a lot easier than selling it. I don't know that posting here will help much. I think you're preaching to the choir. I've just gone through the experience of selling two cars. One a low milage, excellent condition, under Blue Book priced, 315 HP M Roadster. I advertised on BMW forum websites and got NO responses. I ran an ad in the local paper and got two responses, one seemed serious but went nowhere. I ran an ad in the S.F. Chronicle (where dealers listed the same car for more money) thinking that it would be a perfect yuppie commuter car and got one response. I ran an ad in the L.A Times and got one response who showed no interest when he learned how far away I was. I think I listed it, as well, on a webservice for all brands of cars- no response. I wound up selling it to a local independent high end car dealer at a reasonable, but wholesale price (a little more than the BMW dealer would have given me, had he been looking for convertibles, which he wasn't since it was Fall).

The second car was a Caterham Super Seven which I listed on the U.S. distributor's website, for free, along with many other Caterhams. Mine was priced considerably lower, on purpose. A new car with the upgrades that I had installed would sell for more than twice what I was asking. I also listed it on a California Caterham website. I got NO responses. I ran an ad in Autoweek for four weeks and got two responses and one of them bought it. Autoweek has a website with free listings, whether or not you run a print ad, too.

Why don't you keep the car longer and get a '06 or '07?

Watch what similar cars sell for on E-Bay, I think you'll be dissapointed at what they actually bring.

Try Autoweek and your local paper and, if no responses and you REALLY want to sell, you'll probably have to sell it to a dealer

Honestly i don't want to wait for the 06's because i'm not too hot on the idea of the Turbo MINI's...

I really like the current look and total package. I'd be very happy just getting my LSD equiped 05' up to about 200whp and call it a day for the next 10 years. I think i'll really want to keep my 05' for a Loooong time because it'll be perfect to me. It'll have all the options i really wanted from the beginning.

I got about 3 calls this week, one guy was REALLY serious and badly wanted the car but only offered me 18,500 and i told him thats a no go because its what the dealer is offering me and its just too low. The car is truly worth alot more than that, its even worth alot more than the price i'm offering. But my 05' is sitting at the dealer waiting for me to pick it up. I saw it this past weekend and its perfect.

Most of the people who have called have asked about the mileage and ask for an even lower price and say there are other MINI's in the area in other colors with lower mileage but asking a higher price, blah blah blah. Most of these people are willing to pay 3-4k more for a car that has 8-10k less miles when 10k miles will go by like nothing because most of them said they will be commuting 50-90 miles a day in this car....

This car is still under factory warranty for 25k+ more miles along with Free maintence for another 12k miles. I'm just going to try and be patient and wait it out. I know the right buyer will come soon and truly see the value in this car.

Thanks for all the good comments you guys.

If you're really considering selling it for that little to move into an 05 with lsd, why not just spend the $2k to slap in a Quaife?

There are a bunch of other little options i added to the 05' that i've always wanted. Plus you get the larger Supercharger, more HP, quicker Tranny, should i go on hehe.

Plus at the current price i am still getting most of my original downpayment back to put on the 05'.

Ur mini rocks!~

O my god ur car is so neat!!!
Too bad I am in Canada with my 04' IB/W Cooper. I'd definitely consider selling mine and taking over yours. But the price that I can sell mine is only around $21000 CDN. I got mine a year ago at $32100! DAMN!!!

I'm looking to add another MCS to our stable, but I, too, need to move some other iron to make space for Coop II - plus, FL is a long way away. . .but a nice looking MINI and a great price. . .of course, if it gets to the price that I just CAN'T refuse, well, airfare ain't all THAT much. . .

THE CAR HAS SOLD!!!

Of course it was a lil bitter sweet. I've been waiting to sell the car but at the same time it was difficult to see it drive away. But seeing the huge grin on the couples face as they drove past us on the highway honking the horn and waving goodbye felt good. The car went to a truly deserving pair of people.

Now begins the wait on my 05' re-order which i put in two days ago. Thank you again for everybodies support in this thread. At a few times i thought the car was never going to sell. I took a trip to New York last week and when i returned i got at least 15 e-mails and about 30 phone calls on the car from all over the country. Most people that called said they were calling because of the rarity of the color, so i'm guessing the first month on NO calls was just timing.

Thanx again guys!

Thameth - I guess "Patience" was the deal on this sale.. Glad to hear it sold and went to a good new home. I'm sure you are sad and relieved at the same time...

Thanx Donna/Mike,

Even though it didn't seem like it in this thread i actually was pretty calm during the whole thing. Only lost it a few times trying to figure why i wasn't getting any calls.

My former 04' MCS is now on a roadtrip to Vermont where her new home is. I hope she likes cold weather as she has been a South Florida only girl her whole life .

Congratulations! This thread was like reading a novella and wondering how many twists and turns before journey's end. I learned a lot from it (such as how much those eBay cars might really go for and how difficult it is to sell a used car anywhere). I was hoping you would post the conclusion and you did. A very instructive and satisfying (in the end) tale. Thanks.
