Another happy auto up + track mode customer. I met up with Ian today at MINI of Peabody to receive and install the chip.

Here's to pulling away from toll booths in peace.

I've emailed Ian to get on the list for Auto up and GDO.

I know that if you hold one of the toggles you get the windows and sunroof opened but too close you need to use the key in the door. Too bad there is no way to quickly close everything with one switch.

The installation went very easily. I decided to take the downtubes off for the install (easy job) so I wouldn't have to contort my body. I also installed the aux input at the same time. Very easy process...eight screws to remove and refasten, two plugs to attach, quick setup and worked well right away. My version included the GDO with the flying lead. The LED status check light is brilliant touch allowing verification of all connections!

Many thanks, Ian. Excellent product!

Well it's been a long time since I received my circuit, but I finally got the courage to install it today. The instructions were full of warnings--"might blow a fuse", "might have to replace the whole toggle switch",..... Heh heh, and well, my friend who was going to help me has been way too busy and has been MIA for months, so I did it myself.

Can you believe it? Took me all of 10 minutes. Everything went without a hitch! I didn't even remove the downtubes. I removed the little cover behind the toggle switch, shined a mini flashlight inside and saw the plug, just like in Ian's instructions. I got the plug removed--again, thanks to the instructions, and followed the instructions step by step. The only things that didn't exactly coincide was that my chip has a green LED instead of red, and my LED didn't flash for 3 seconds when I first turned it on. Maybe it flashed 3 times, but seemed only for a second or so.

Other than that, everything was smooth!! I tested all the functions, and the double click Auto Ups work and so does the Track mode DSC.

So just wanted to say thanks to Ian, and wow, I feel good that it was simpler than I had imagined!

Richard

You know, I'm going to add a page to one of my websites, or maybe all of them. I've been wanting to unite all the "garage tuners" or enthusiasts who are providing really cool things for the MINI but aren't big time companies.

So far I got 4 things. Your Circuit, The Glovebox Organizer, My Whalen, my VacuCams. To me, these are all essential items every MINI enthusiast should have! And who better to buy it from than the enthusiasts themselves!

The installation went very easily. (stole this from Koopah and a thank you to koopah)

The reason my autoup install was so easy is that I didn't do it Jenn from West Coast MINIs did it for me and a big thank you to her

Every time I use it I think "that's great".

Lack of US Auto-Up from MINI is NOT a safety issue.

Paul and All,
The lack of an auto-up feature has little to do with safety issues and product liability.

MINI's parent, BMW, sees fit to offer auto-up in many of its US offerings. Our 745i has auto-up on all windows, and our M3 convertible has it on the drivers window.

Obviously, its easier to bury the added per unit cost of the feature in a $75,000 car than on a $20,000 one. And yes, the factory units do have a safety shutoff, further complicating and adding extra cost.

Still, I'm perplexed at why they couldn't bundle it into one of MINI's option packages. They offer parktronic on a 12 foot long car, and its hard to get more "over the top" than that.

Thanks to Ian for fixing what MINI forgot. I want one.
Mike

I ordered my auto-up, switched 12v garage door opener, DSC board last week. It arrived either friday or saturday (I was out of town and got home yesterday afternoon).
Installed it last night in about 30 minutes, using the "blind" method which included modifying the garage door opener. Works like a champion! Ian, the Sin City MINI Club may be sending you a mass order in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the work and the very reasonable pricing.

Thanks
I have given a small discount for a 10+ order before, and can do so again - email to discuss when/if you have a need ...

I'll be showing it off this weekend when we do a group drive down to Arizona. I'll contact you if and when.
One minor point on the install instructions. I was fairly tired when I was doing the install and got confused for a couple of minutes when (in the setup phase) the instruction was talking about the "door toggle". I worked out that it meant the window toggle, but it threw me for a little while. As I said, I was kinda groggy, but you asked for any clarifications that people think might improve the instructions.

Can you try to remember exactly where the confusion was in the instructions? I try to consistently refer to "door toggle" when I mean the door lock/unlock toggle, and "window toggle" when I mean the window close/open toggle - did I get one wrong? Can't find it on my master instructions.

PS:
Very jealous
I love visiting and admiring the architecture in Las Vegas, and the drive to/from Phoenix is astounding, compared to driving around New England ...

It may have been the unlock toggle that you were referring to. As I said, it was the end of a very hectic weekend and I was extremely tired.

We're not going to Phoenix, we're going to Lake Havasu City to take the MINIs to see London Bridge.
