I live in Northern Virginia and am looking to buy a set of 16" rims (the lighter the better), hopefully already fitted with R-compound tires (Kumho's or Hoosier's). Am willing to travel within a 100-mile radius for pick-up purposes.

Also, has anyone had any experience with the new Schrott (sp?) MINI-specific racing harness. Am interested in your opinion of said harness (before I fork out the cash...)

Many thanks in advance.

Aloha and welcome to MCO,
For very lightweight 16" wheels for an MC or MCS see
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...tart=50&63
Alex@tirerack.com is taking pre-orders on the SSR CompR 16x.5 rims in anthracite finish with no centercaps and no machined lip. Weight is about 11 pounds per rim or less and cost is about $299 each. Due out in August.

[Schroth Harness] see http://www.mini-motorsport.com/interior.php
These are a bolt in installation using the factory mount points for the rear seat belt and the front shoulder harness. They "piggy back" to the factory belts, so your rear seatbelt and stock three point front seatbelt can be used by simply unclicking the harness from the female stock receptacles.
They are available in red, blue, and black and are specific to the MINI. They cannot be used in any other vehicle. The Schroth harnesses are driver or passenger side distinct. The Schroth is a four point harness with a special design to prevent submarining.
Tested at the track and through several autocrosses, they help prevent using the wheel to stabilize yourself - providing much more usable tactile steering wheel feedback.
Price: $225 Call and talk to Randy about this harness

As an alternative to the expensive SSR CompR consider the AK tire Monza
http://www.mini-motorsport.com/suspension.php
AK Tire Monza 16" Wheels
This wheel is a strong and light 16x6.5" 44mm offset, which makes it legal for any stock class in SCCA or BMWCCA. The Monza weighs a mere 13.9 lbs, and the open spoke design assists with brake cooling. Avaialble in silver and white. [Silver] [White]
Price: $155 silver, $165 white

Many thanks for your reply!

Forgot to mention that I'm looking for USED rims/R-compound tires, as brand new ones are not within my budget at the moment.

Again, thanks.
