If anyone out there has gutted their MINI and has removed their airbag system, I am willing to pay around $200 for the system.

I was on a road trip with my Mom a few weeks ago. My mom tried to honk the horn, but instead of using her fingers on the buttons, she beat on the steering wheel with her hand and cracked the plastic cap in the middle of the wheel!

Anyone out there with parts taking up space?

I would think that only the road racing MINI owners who have fully dedicated their cars to competition would have removed the steering wheel airbag. Even if you could find one I wouldn't recommend swapping anything other than the plastic cap you mention. I would recommend given Classic Auto a call to see if they could source the replacement for you.

Well hopefully I can replace just the cap. The dealership says that i can only purchase the whole airbag. Anyone out there able to tell me if the cap is removable?

I agree, give Classic a call. I think your dealer is serving you a load. But, also do a thread search on something like "steering wheel" and "emblem". I know someone was asking a while back about how to replace the steering wheel emblem when theirs was scratched. I have no idea how easy or hard this is to do. Good luck!
