I'm not in California and I just bought an 06 cooper S convertible mere weeks ago...
...but I can tell you this. I'm absolutely loving mine, trust me - but I paid $8K for mine with 105K on it (in NY, with snow and road salt, which brings prices down here, relatively). If yours was there on the same lot for $15K - I would have spent $15K for yours. I think that's a pretty good deal, especially for the mileage and cleanliness.
Even though yours doesn't have racing stripes on the hood and mine does.

Mine actually DOES have racing stripes. Just a bit faded by the sun. But yeah, I love the car but It doesn't get much use these days. The FL sun is a killer, and sadly I enjoyed driving this a bit more in IL winters. Ha.
What's up with the crickets? JK. Bumping again.

Sounds about right
I only paid 8,000 for my 2014 R59 . It had been in a wreck and front and rear damage had happen to it.it was all fix’s back with new parts and you can not tell it was in one. So I think I save about five thousand because of that.
right now I ate this Mini Cooper love it for two years without one thing going wrong with it.then about three months ago it with to half engine lite on to not making it home. Had just put in a new timing chain and new water pump and belt. Had to buy the special tool for locking the camshafts down to keep it in time.
so after all the drove it about a week and the half engine lite comes back on. Nothing was wrong at that time, but once again had it pull home to look at it.
with so many codes showing up the 1st one I figure was the Fuel pressure sensor, so change that still nothing, changes both cam sensors and the crankshaft sensor still same thing not starting. Brought new coils plugs and still the same.no starting. So even with my tools and stuff , I now have about. 500 or 600 cash into it. Now just today I have found a hot reply that hot hot to hold. It was beside the passages side at feet. So taken that out and tried to start it and not cranking but the windshield wipers starting wiping as I was hitting the start button. So after reading over three months on Mini Coopers on anything and everything, sound like Mini Cooper are the cars you do not want to own.I can only think how in the world did people think cars build by Germans is some of the best designed cars build. Working on this cars has giving me new cuss words to use..lol
like I said love the car before this but being my 2nd one,if I get this running again I know will love it once again. But never ever will I buy any thing that is build by BMW again. But hoping your car is never broken down for you. But that a sound price for your car for sure.

Hi,
That is quite unfortunate to hear. I'm sure there are plenty of people on this board who will say that their Mini's have been the most reliable and coolest car they've ever owned. While some will have the same painful experience you have. I can say in terms of my experience, it has NEVER left me stranded and has always been a blast to own. I also own other German brands (Porsche) that has been absolutely been bullet proof, with the exception of higher maintenance costs. I've also owned Japanese brands like Honda and Toyota which is boring be ALWAYS reliable. Maybe I'm just lucky??
But as they say...your mileage may vary. Either way, good luck with whatever car you choose and enjoy the ride.
