confused

Now i'm truly confused, I know most MINI-acks don't like my chrome rims(there to heavy) I know that but i don't race my car so weight is not that big an issue.I like driving slow so people can get a good look. I truly enjoy going on runs with my MINI club and having a blast on the twisties. Other than that i love going on cruises and entering my baby in shows. I've won several peoples choice awards and best import. Not to mention best wheels.People have told me that my engine compartment was awesome. So when you say ewww. I don't get it. Is that a bad thing? Is chrome under the bonnet a bad thing? When i finally update my gallery will i get negative comments. I'm so confused:impatient

Do what you want. I was just saying i didnt like it. I think (just my 2 cents) that a large majority of mini owners over-chrome their mini and it begins look cheap. I will not give you negative comments on your gallery, and if you live near me i will for sure hang out with you and go for a drive anytime.

I'm sure it will win at an import show...but to me its just not my thing. I like a more subtle classy style compared to bright flashy in your face style. There isnt a right answer...we both are happy with our cars and thats what matters.

Like you i have gotten many compliments as "best mini they have seen" both online and in person.....and i have gone to shows and gotten recognition without any bright flashy chrome under my bonnet and stuff.....subtle is my key. So both of us recieving such kind words goes to show that everyone is right in their styling....and everyone is allowed to have their own opinions.

Just my 2 cents....dont worry too much about it.

Speaking of hating chrome.....I just got my headlight rings and upper bumper trim back from being painted and now i have to just paint the gas door, door handles and strip the drip molding all the way around the car.

It's really just not my thing to be honest with you. Your car certainly is good at achieving the style you want though. Very in your face and eye-grabbing I chose the smooth euro look, and yours is the sports car look....both are cool.

We just happened to go down different styling roads....but we can both have fun ejoying the drive down them

My project car thread if you ever get bored (inccludes a lot of posts about my styling philosophy of smooth and simple.):

My car (pic is a little old, but i have been lazy recently ):

nah, but i can try to explain it.

It's almost all OEM in terms of looks. You can see my K&N typhoon kit with polished piping. I have konis, so i needed to make custom shock caps to hide/protect the adjustment "pole", and the caps have been painted a flat black. Some of the intake piping has been rerouted, but i used all of the stock parts as to keep the OEM look. Thats about it under there....none of the cool googly eyes or bright color things...but its gets the job done I plan to get Ireland engineering camber plates, but they arent visible from the bonnet, which helps nicely with the OEM+ look.

I try to keep it clean but usually fail cause i do a lot of driving on back country roads which tend to be covered in dirt (hence my name...rally)

The beauty of MINIs is that everyone takes their car and makes it their own...

DaWorks...

and Nittany:

Manny, your IB baby is welcome to park next to my IB baby anytime! Two totally different styles yet I think people can appreciate the work that has gone into each of them, whether they like the style or not.
