JCW CAI Filter replacement

Greetings all! I have a 2005 R52 (non-factory JCW). Many years ago, I had many JCW parts installed, including the CAI. It has the stock injectors. I’m embarrassed to say that I never changed the air filter. Now I have more time on my hands and want to bring things up to speed, so to speak.
Can someone please walk me through this - can I just remove a few screws, undo a hose or two, pop off the lid and put the filter in, or …..? If so, which screws/bolts and which hose? I’d love to take a look at the foam and gasket where it attaches at the back, but do I have to pull everything apart to do this?

I think I’m sticking with the paper filter and not an oiled one. I believe this is the correct replacement, no?

Hi Mike, Thanks very much for this! I cannot tell by looking at the schematics where the oval opening at the back (the one with the foam gasket) connects to. In my car, I can reach around and feel the opening and even put my hand partially inside and feel the mechanism for the flap (but can't tell if the flap is there, if I recall it was removed because it was not hooked up to the engine control unit. I thought that the opening in the back was supposed to attach to some sort of duct that would draw air from the cowl - I'm confused...

Hi again and many thanks for the information! I can give it a go as soon as I can figure out this problem. The opening to the box is a distance from the area where it (I think) is supposed to be abutting the space behind the shroud so the outside air can get sucked in through the cowl... I just can't figure this out especially since there is a small tank (?) with a lid in sitting right in the way. I found a stock photo of the 2005 JCW engine bay and it looks just like mine...
What am I missing??

The first two photos are of my car, the last a photo I found online:

The blue arrow points to something with a cap - what is that? The green arrow points to the end of the box, big space behind it, I can put my hand a short distance into the opening.

You can see where the box ends and that tank or whatever behind it...

This photo of another 2005 JCW with the airbox in the same spot as mine. How is the CAI doing anything if the opening does not extend up to the shroud (or whatever that wall area is called)??

I did more looking online and think maybe it's the brake fluid reservoir?

Yes the brake booster and brake fluid reservoir is in the top right near the back of the box

I read somewhere that there is supposed to be a snorkel that goes from the back of the box around the reservoir up into the cowl. I’m not sure that that’s really necessary, there’s not that much horsepower boost from the CAI anyway. Your thoughts?
