2019 JCW looking to purchase

New to the forum and our first Mini for the wife, we have had many BMW’s.

We’re looking at picking up the JCW Clubman in black and auto transmission on Saturday and just wanted to know if there was anything I was to look for? After a quick search I see the engine mount as a common problem.

The vehicle has full service records from BMW. It has 53,600 miles on it and the engine mount was not replaced. Will likely DIY this later and change the oil, diff fluid and brake fluid.

There is a small rattle on the passenger side exhaust. Doesn’t seem too bad and goes away after the engine is warm. It was daily driven and we have a winter season here.

The engine has a loud ticking noise but apparently this is normal. Also noticed, there was a hole with some wiring, 4th photo. Is this normal?

Thank you,
Dan

Congrats,

Thats normal for that clip, its a shared clip.

The rattle might be that motor mount going bad, they are know to fail and tear.

Great thanks for the input. Yes we will be replacing the engine mount when it gets warmer 😊

A loud ticking noise is not normal. It might be from > low oil, worn valve train components, or a faulty timing chain. Walk away if they don't fix it.

Thanks, they were not able to do anything. The vehicle was being sold as is. We did end up purchasing it, have encountered some break issues already. Will be replacing all the rotors and pads and do a brake fluid change in the coming weeks. Will also do an oil change and diff fluids.

Will look into other maintenance I can do to give it a new start.

Fingers crossed no major issues!
