I received an estimate from the dealer today. $8000. So, yeah. We'll have them do a couple of the more involved jobs and then we have a nice list of projects to address at home as we ramp up on working on these things! Engine mounts, anti-roll bar bushings, lower control arm bushings and stuff like that will be projects over the coming months. I'm thankful nothing major is wrong, it's mostly just little maintenance stuff the PO didn't keep up with and we can work on over time.

Thanks everyone for the tips on motor mounts. The top one is leaking so that's the first thing after we get the oil and fluids flushed and filters and plugs/wires replaced. Placing orders now!

How hard are these to replace without removing the windshield? Apparently our windshield was replaced but the chrome isn't held on properly as some clips are missing.

Thanks

My windscreen has two small rock chips but no cracks. When time comes, I'll replace with OEM glass despite higher cost than cheaper aftermarket. After watching the linked video, I bought those white clips in advance 2 years ago (as well as replacement trim strips) to have ready for installation since otherwise not easily (if at all) accessible or removable intact without the glass out first. Unit price paid (plus shipping), is likely higher now...

Quick update on progress.
Replaced the hydraulic motor mount, valve cover gasket, thermostat and gasket, and then had a local Mini mechanic replace the dual mass flywheel, clutch/bearing, oil pan gasket and lower control arm bushings. Both the top and bottom of the engine internals look very good and clean, no wear on the followers or gunk so that's good news.

The only problem so far is after replacing the hydraulic motor mount, there is a strong buzz/vibration that doesn't seem like it should be there. Do the hydraulic motor mounts break in? It's possible we've damaged one of the other mounts so we'll look at that this week. The car is my son's and he's doing most of the swear...I mean, work on it.

Mini Cooper lower windscreen moulding base clip removal
Pretty sure gen1 OEM glass is NLA. gen2 is a direct fit, except the window to view the VIN is a little off center. Let me know if you have any luck finding a gen 1 windshield.

Thanks
it isn’t too hard, you can squeeze them in. Removing isn’t to bad, I used a straight pic and just punched the middles out, then used the same pic to carefully push the new pins in on the new clips. I picked the deluxe windshield clip pack from ECS. I’m not a very big fan of Safelite and their BS they pulled. They didn’t even attach my chrome trim, broke a whole bunch of the clips they put in, didn’t even put clips on the chrome trim at all, and apparently couldn’t find the clip to put the plastic trim piece back on over the outside a pillar, oh and broke my chrome trim where it screws in and dented it. I had to get all new clips, picked up a good set of chrome trim, and I magically found that clip they couldn’t.
