Aftermarket Intake
Aftermarket Intake
Picked up a 2022 JCW Countryman and absolutely love it - great driving car for when 2 car seats and additional room is needed in life.
Looking to have some modification fun with it now and naturally an intake is where in looking to start. Looking for some added intake/turbo sound since HP gains are minimal.
While there is some info out there/on here about intakes, it seems quite minimal.
Wanted to get some input as to which intake has some of the best sound - unfortunately the Eventuri is not an option as the price is way off the mark for me.
Options I have seen so far are
-Dinan (I have heard its a tame increase in intake/turbo sound)
-RamAir Proram (not much info out there on this one)
Anything else out there worth looking at? Any thoughts on the Dinan intake resonator delete pipe?
Thank you all in advance for any info.

I'm deciding on this myself, for my 2024 JCW F57.
My gut says that they will all be fairly the same, with mild changes in both sound and performance. The stock JCW can't be THAT bad, and it's a cold air intake after all.
In fact, I don't get why some of these system (like K&N) brag that they are "cold air" systems when, if anything, they let more engine heat into the filter than the stock system.
IMO, just based on "logical" thinking, the best results would be had with a larger filter that still uses the stock air ducts.
MST makes such a system, and there's a Youtube demo video that shows a pretty decent improvement in sound. (Deeper and richer.)
I'm really not sure how some others do it, but it doesn't LOOK like they mount into the original ducts. (I could be wrong.)
I'm leaning towards the Eventuri (plastic version) which not only uses the stock ducts, but then (of course) adds more forced cold air from the replacement hood scoop. I already have the Dinan input resonator delete pipe, and the Dinan Sport module, so I figure there's a decent chance that the Eventuri will have a slight edge over other systems with my build. Maybe it will, maybe it won't, but it sure is sexy !

Its kind of tough because if you want noticeably more sound in the driver's seat just from the intake, you have to downgrade to a hot air intake, which would be unwise if wanting more mods. Otherwise its just a slight difference in sound.
I have an AEM intake, which is still cold and uses the stock snorkel. The sound change is quite minor, with a pretty small performance bump.
Velossa makes a "big mouth" ram air pre-snorkel that I could see changing the sound, in lit and unlit versions: https://www.velossatechdesign.com/pr...ntake-snorkels
FYI Eventuri makes a non carbon fiber option thats cheaper.
I think most of a sound change would come from a resonator delete and more free-flowing downpipe.
