2020 Jcw changes

Hey Guys! Very glad i could find this forum

I have just upgraded my jcw from a 2018 to a 2020 and i’m pretty disappointed. The transmission change was pretty nice, but i cant stand the dinamic change, suspension is softer and my biggest issue is steering, it was very sharp and fast, now it feels just like any other car. Can i upgrade/tune something to have it as it was on the 2018?

Mostly the steering is alignment and camber. Find a reputable shop that specializes in alignment. They'll make the changes necessary.

As to the suspension, I believe there are lowering springs that could stiffen up the ride, but I am not sure about a full coil over swap with electronically adjustable suspension.

Thanks for the reply!

sorry for the loooong text and bad english ahead.i really apreciate who could have the patience to read it!

As i drove more i could narrow the changes, and thought how to mitigate them:

-Alignment: both cars were oringinal and on warranty, but i think the ‘18 had a little toe, as traction control blinked a lot in quite conservative situations that the ‘20 does not.i thought of maybe changing the toe a tiddy bit, could it help? Any suggestions of a starting point?

-Roll: i found a little more rolling over the forward corner on sharp turns. I dont want to compromise warranty so early, but thought about the sway bar. Is there some kind of slight adjustment to be done on the original (like using any factory slack on the hole or checking the right torque one the bolts)

- tyres are different, the 2018 had pirelli p7 run flat, the 2020 has the dunlop sportmaxx runflat, a lot mor silent. I did not find any reviews side by side to understand. Can the pressure help the case? What tyre would be the best for this issue?

Alignment - MINIs are setup to have a very aggressive front end turn in. Lots of initial bite, then understeer for safety. Any good alignment shop should be able to match your requirements to an alignment. I would just ask and see what they say.

Roll - Not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. I don't believe there is any adjustment on the factory sway bar. Like with the alignment, the same shop should be able to suggest aftermarket options.

Tyres - Ewww, run flats. Reducing the tyre pressure can with track work, but I'd stick to factory specs for the pressures for street driving. As to the types of tires I have found that both the Michelin PS4S and the Pirelli P Zero are great tyres. The P Zero is a great value as it has plenty of "stick' for street driving both wet and dry, but suffers with higher wear. The Michelin has better grip and wear, but is more expensive.

As I said, I am not an expert. The best advice I can give is to talk with an actual professional. They should be able to turn what you are after into actuality.
